Key Responsibilities
Strategic Oversight & Board Engagement
- Develop, implement, and uphold CCHASM’s mission and strategic goals in partnership with the Board.
- Serve as the primary liaison between the Board and the organization, providing regular updates and ensuring strong governance practices.
- Partner with the Board to set strategic priorities, develop policies, and drive decision-making.
- Schedule and lead Board meetings, providing financial and program updates, and engaging Board members in fundraising and strategic planning.
- Identify opportunities for Board growth and development to strengthen governance and oversight.
Leadership & Growth
- Define and execute a bold vision for the future in partnership with the Board and staff.
- Lead a small but dedicated team of staff and contractors.
- Strengthen relationships with local government, businesses, faith-based groups, and nonprofits to expand resources and funding.
- Oversee signature programs like home delivery, financial assistance, food pantries, and the M.A. Weeks Thanksgiving Program.
Fundraising & Revenue Generation
- Your success fuels our impact. Secure new funding streams, sponsorships, and donor relationships to expand programs and drive sustainability.
- Develop and execute major fundraising campaigns and donor engagement strategies.
- Grow corporate, foundation, and church partnerships to increase financial support.
Grant Writing and Management
- Identify, apply for, and manage funds from government organizations, grants and foundations.
- Collaborate and supervise the completion of the narrative for grant applications with the Director of Operations.
Financial & Strategic Oversight
- Manage and grow the organization’s annual budget to ensure financial sustainability.
- Oversee budgeting, financial planning, and reporting, ensuring compliance with nonprofit financial best practices.
- Work in partnership with contracted fiscal support to ensure accurate accounting, audits, and financial compliance.
- Monitor monthly financial performance and ensure alignment with strategic goals.
- Maintain records for the annual audit and collaborate with auditors and CPAs to meet all compliance requirements.
Human Resources & Team Development
- Manage, and develop a high-performing team, ensuring alignment with the organization’s mission.
- Provide leadership to staff and volunteers, fostering a collaborative and positive work environment.
- Oversee HR operations, including onboarding, training, and professional development.

Qualifications
- 5 years of leadership experience in nonprofit, business, or community-based roles.
- Proven fundraising and financial management expertise.
- Exceptional relationship-building, networking, and communication skills, with the ability to work effectively with diverse stakeholders (government, nonprofits, businesses, and faith-based groups).
- Supervisory and human resources experience, including managing staff, volunteers, and contractors.
- Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills, with the ability to adapt to a fast-paced and evolving environment.
- Bachelor’s degree; Graduate degree preferred.
- Valid driver’s license and local travel required.

Founded in 1988, Chesterfield Colonial Heights Alliance for Social Ministry (CCHASM) serves six localities in the Tri-Cities of Central Virginia, including the signature M.A. Thanksgiving Program that serves over 12,000 individuals annually at seven (7) regional locations. Founded in 1988, our mission is to provide food, utility bill assistance, and educational resources for area residents experiencing an emergency. Our food assistance program – through onsite food pantries and home delivery service – is vital to ensure the basic needs of all citizens. With more than 130 regional partners, including the Virginia Department of Health, CCHASM ensures the distribution of safe food and economic resources to address the social determinants of health.
