The Role:
Our Direct Lending team is looking to hire a Vice President. This role will focus on lending to primarily upper-middle-market companies, both private equity-sponsored and non-sponsored, providing a range of customized financing solutions across debt and equity-related instruments.
Responsibilities:
Underwrite new debt financing opportunities, with a primary focus on the consumer & retail sector (including related service providers and equipment manufacturers)
Manage a deal team of 1-2 junior resources to complete investment due diligence, create Investment Committee deliverables (including memos, models, and supplemental analysis), and oversee transaction closing process
Play active role in legal documentation process, including coordination and communication with internal and external counsel
Develop and communicate views on the consumer & retail sector, including various sub-sectors, as well as how macro and micro trends will impact new opportunities and existing portfolio companies
Manage a portfolio of existing investments in the consumer & retail sector, along with related post-closing tasks (e.g., incremental financings, amendments, etc.)
Communicate and collaborate with various constituencies including financial sponsors, company management, and other lenders in the capital structure
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree, preferably in Finance, Accounting, or related financial discipline with an outstanding record of academic achievement
7 years of relevant experience in direct lending and/or underwriting-focused leveraged finance or investment banking. Experience working with financial sponsors is important as well
Significant experience (i.e., multiple years across numerous transactions) evaluating, underwriting and monitoring transactions within the consumer & retail space. Experience in other sectors is a plus
Ability to self-direct, analyze, evaluate, and form independent judgments
Strong communication skills with great attention to detail and ability to effectively communicate key credit issues in writing and orally
Good understanding of and experience with credit agreements and related loan documentation, including key provisions, terms, baskets, etc.
Excellent team player with a willingness to share the spotlight with other team members and strong intellectual curiosity
Advanced accounting, corporate finance knowledge, and financial modeling aptitude
It is expected that the base annual salary range for this New York City-based position will be $175,000 - $200,000. Actual salaries may vary based on factors, such as skill, experience, and qualification for the role. Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus, based on factors such as individual and team performance.
