What are the responsibilities and job description for the Veterinarian - Mixed Animal position at Blue Ridge Animal Clinic?
Blue Ridge Animal Clinic is a mixed animal veterinary practice in Lexington, VA. BRAC was established in 1985 with the goal of providing full-service veterinary care for large and small animals. Our skilled and compassionate staff provide preventive care as well as medical, surgical, dental and advanced reproductive services for our patients, both small and large animals.
Blue Ridge Animal Clinic is a rural, high case load, mixed animal general practice. We are an established private practice who has served the area for 40 years. We are seeking full, part time or alternative scheduling veterinarians.
The ideal candidates are individuals with a team player work ethic. As a multi-doctor practice we prioritize communication, often working together and sharing cases. We extend our collaborative care further by offering mentorship to veterinary and undergraduate students year-round.
We have an open relationship with multiple referral hospitals in our area and feel fortunate to have so many qualified choices for both small and large animals.
Large/Mixed Animal Associates
BRAC provides emergency care to all species of large animals in our service area. On call duties are shared between all mixed and large animal doctors. Sharing duties is important and prioritizes you and your family first. Our practice considers full time a 4-day work week with share of on-call duties.
Our large animal patients include cattle (primarily beef), small ruminants, horses, camelids, and pigs. The loss of multiple other equine veterinarian facilities that had once serviced the area has provided a growing demand and new opportunity for our equine services.
BRAC has a large animal haul-in facility, equine stocks available, and provides fully equipped vehicles for ambulatory medicine. Our practice has an in-house IDEXX laboratory, digital radiography, portable digital radiography unit, ultrasound, a class IV therapeutic laser and advanced ruminant reproductive equipment.
Our team-oriented staff currently includes 4 LVTs, 4 veterinary assistants, 3 receptionists and a Practice Manager. Team members are passionate, professional and caring, providing fantastic support both in the clinic and on the road. Employee benefits include competitive salary, health & dental insurance, life insurance, long term disability, retirement plan with company matching, CE assistance, and access to STD, accident and other supplemental insurance.
