BRCC is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Director of Facilities Management to oversee the planning, operation, and maintenance of all campus facilities. This critical role ensures that the college’s educational spaces are safe, functional, and well-maintained, supporting the academic and administrative needs of students, faculty, and staff. The Director will lead a team of facilities staff and manage external contractors, ensuring compliance with safety regulations, sustainability goals, and quality standards.
Key Responsibilities:
- Leadership & Supervision: Lead, supervise, and evaluate the facilities management team, including staff development, performance reviews, coaching, and delegating responsibilities. Foster a team-oriented, productive work environment.
- Facility Maintenance & Operations: Oversee the daily operations of building maintenance, including mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and HVAC systems. Troubleshoot and resolve issues to ensure continuous functionality of campus facilities.
- Contract Management: Manage contracts for outsourced services such as custodial, landscaping, and specialized maintenance. Monitor performance, track materials, evaluate invoices, and ensure compliance with contractual terms and industry standards.
- Safety & Compliance: Ensure compliance with OSHA regulations and internal safety standards. Conduct regular safety inspections and audits, develop safety protocols, and provide training to staff on proper safety procedures and emergency response.
- Project Management: Supervise renovation, construction, and capital improvement projects. Coordinate both in-house staff and contractors to ensure projects are completed on time, within budget, and in compliance with state and local codes and regulations.
- Energy Efficiency & Sustainability: Promote and implement energy-efficient practices and sustainability initiatives across campus facilities. Develop and oversee energy conservation programs to reduce costs and environmental impact.
- Procurement & Budget Management: Oversee the purchasing of tools, materials, and equipment. Manage the department’s budget, ensuring cost-effective spending and financial accountability.
- Life Safety Systems: Ensure compliance with life safety regulations, including fire alarms, emergency lighting, and other critical systems. Coordinate necessary inspections and maintenance of these systems.
- Campus Events & Moving Services: Oversee event set-ups, furniture installations, and moving services for campus functions, ensuring coordination with various departments for a seamless experience.
- Grounds Maintenance: Manage the landscaping, snow removal, and general upkeep of outdoor spaces to ensure a clean and attractive campus environment.
- Strong knowledge of building systems (HVAC, electrical, plumbing, etc.), facilities operations, and project management
- Experience in managing construction and renovation projects, including coordination of contractors, adherence to construction codes, and oversight of project budgets and timelines
- Familiarity with local, state, and federal regulations related to facilities management and safety compliance
- Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills with the ability to manage and motivate a diverse team
- Strong organizational and time-management skills, with the ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects and tasks
- Ability to demonstrate progressive experience in facilities management including specific examples of supervisory or leadership roles
- Experience using MS Office (Word, Outlook, Excel)
- A valid Driver’s License
- Knowledge of state policies and codes related to facilities maintenance, construction, and procurement
