Job Title: Furniture Sander
Job Summary:
The Furniture Sander is responsible for preparing furniture surfaces for finishing by removing imperfections, smoothing surfaces, and ensuring proper preparation for staining, painting, or other finishing processes. This role requires attention to detail, proficiency in using various sanding tools and equipment, and a commitment to maintaining quality standards.
Key Responsibilities:
Surface Preparation:
- Smooth surfaces of wooden furniture parts, frames, and other components using hand and power sanding tools.
- Remove old finishes, paint, varnish, and other coatings.
- Fill cracks, dents, and imperfections with appropriate fillers.
- Prepare surfaces for staining, painting, or other finishing processes.
Tool and Equipment Operation:
- Operate various sanding tools, including orbital sanders, belt sanders, and hand sanders.
- Maintain and clean sanding equipment and tools.
- Select appropriate sandpaper grits and sanding techniques for different wood types and finishes.
Quality Control:
- Inspect surfaces for smoothness and consistency.
- Ensure all surfaces meet quality standards before proceeding to the next stage of finishing.
- Identify and address any defects or imperfections.
Safety Compliance:
- Adhere to safety procedures and guidelines.
- Wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE), such as respirators, safety glasses, and hearing protection.
- Maintain a clean and organized work area.
Other Duties:
- May assist with other tasks in the finishing department as needed.
- Follow work orders and specifications.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
- Experience in furniture sanding or a related field.
- Proficiency in using various sanding tools and equipment.
- Knowledge of different wood types and sanding techniques.
- Attention to detail and a commitment to quality.
- Ability to follow instructions and work independently.
- Good hand-eye coordination and manual dexterity.

Physical Requirements:
