They are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Purchasing Coordinator to join our dynamic team. Reporting to the Category Manager, the Purchasing Coordinator will collaborate closely with the Vice President of Purchasing to support food procurement operations and inventory management.

Focus:
- Order food products to meet forecasted demand while minimizing inventory loss.
- Ensure products are sourced at optimal costs while maintaining quality and service standards.
- Follow company policies and procedures to maintain consistency in food purchasing practices.
- Monitor inventory levels and optimize product turnover while minimizing distress and ensuring service level goals are met.
- Work with internal teams including store operations, distribution centers, and divisional personnel to enhance procurement efficiency.
- Assess acquisition costs to secure the best pricing without compromising quality and availability.
- Evaluate current market conditions, seasonal availability, and promotional influences to inform purchasing decisions.
- Analyze post-promotional performance to refine future purchasing strategies.
- Address and resolve inventory and ordering concerns at the store level.
- Utilize daily and weekly reports to monitor costs, quality, service levels, and inventory trends, making adjustments as needed.
- Develop and maintain professional relationships with vendors to ensure product availability and service reliability.
- Manage discrepancies related to distribution-sourced items, ensuring accurate pricing and invoicing.
- Periodically visit stores to assess program implementation and gather operational feedback.
- Maintain department records and files while coordinating with warehouse operations for efficient product flow.
- Utilize remote access tools for purchasing operations when necessary.
Skill Set:
- 2-3 years of food purchasing experience within retail, wholesale, or food service industries.
- Understanding of food procurement, logistics, inventory management, and merchandising practices.
- Strong ability to analyze data, organize tasks effectively, and make informed decisions.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to foster business relationships internally and externally.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel and Word.
- Thrive in a dynamic environment with shifting priorities.
- A genuine interest in food service and procurement is highly preferred.
