Blue Water Manor is a resort property and family restaurant located along the shores of Lake George. We are a family-owned and run company that prides itself on our community. Events at BWM are a huge part of property, whether it be a wedding or other event, we want to make sure that everything runs smoothly and it is exactly as the guests envision it. Job Title: Banquet/Prep Chef
Salary: $23-30 / hour depending on experience level, room for growth
Schedule: Full-Time (40 hours per week) Sun-Sat
Role: A talented and experienced chef to cook for all events and weddings on property. Also available to prep food for the restaurant on non-event days. Includes ordering food, taking inventory, and keeping a clean and organized kitchen. Looking for someone who can work well with others and with good time management skills to ensure food is ready in a timely fashion. Job begins at the end of April and has potential to be a year-round position.
Duties:
- Understanding of cooking skills, knife handling, and safety
- Manage kitchen team
- Cook food in a timely manner
- Ability to jump in and take over for any station
- Advanced knowledge of cooking, baking, and pastry techniques
- Up-to-date knowledge of techniques and recipes
- Make sure plates are executed correctly and presented properly
- Check freshness of food stocks and throw out items
- Knowledge of accounting and budgeting
- Oversee inventory control and place orders
- Familiarity with sanitation regulations
- Ability to work with speed and efficiency
- Maintain a clean and orderly kitchen by washing dishes, sanitizing surfaces, taking out trash
- Follow the prep list created to plan duties
- Label and stock all ingredients on shelves so they can be organized and easily accessible
- Culinary degree preferred or at least three to five years working in a professional kitchen
- Must be able to work different shifts, including holidays, nights, and weekends
Additional requirements: Must be physically able to push, pull, or lift up to 35 pounds and stand for long periods. Must reach items at varying heights (on shelves, on the ground, etc.)
