Role : Engineering Manager - Platform Data CloudLocation : Dallas TX ( Hybrid Role - No REMOTE, In Office presence required )Other Synonyms - Sr Technology ManagerOverview : As an Senior Manager( Engineering Manager) you have the overall responsibility for the planning and delivery of typically one single project of medium scope, or more than one small product or projects. This includes all aspects of the project, from initial planning to final delivery. Manages the project teams associated with the project, including recruiting and managing resources for the project, as well as coaching and mentoring members of the team to progress on their career paths. Coordinates with key constituents outside of PD, including PMG, Sales, Support, Services, and customers.NOTE : Must be in the Dallas metro area OR Scottsdale metro area, United States. This is not a fully remote role. Spending some time in the office with the team will be highly beneficial and necessary.Responsibilities : Oversees the development, support, maintenance, and implementation of projects and product through managers. Completes end-to-end project management including release planning, delivery, monitoring progress, and reporting. Identifies functional and technical linkages across the organization for inter-departmental collaboration.Develops appropriate processes and roadmaps including technology, hiring plans, training requirements, and staffing.Interacts with customers and other departments to understand or negotiate information on projects / products and development activities.Contributes to product architecture and functionality decisions.Reviews project milestones, deliverables, and quality of teams to identify risk and mitigation. Identifies risks and defines mitigation plans.Resolves escalated impediments, facilitates cross-team communication to resolve impediments when needed, and in some cases, escalates the impediments to get them resolved.Contributes to quality metric definition. Reviews quality metrics and determines remediation plans.Ensures teams follow and adhere to Agile development processes and standards.Provides feedback to managers and architects on career path, and guides them in continuous development and learning. Guides direct report managers in coordination with PMG and Support, and facilitates decision making.Conducts appraisals, provides feedback, and handles work allocations for direct reports, and approves the same for indirect reports.Uses expert people management skills to attract, motivate, and retain talent. Recognizes, addresses, and escalates personnel-related impediments of the team. Keeps expenses within budget.Provides budget input for capital expenditure and operational expenses of the team. Escalates issues that may have negative financial impact. Aligns the team to work towards department goals.Advises senior management on specific project issues. Leads teams that include senior architects and other resources not in their reporting organization.Qualifications : At least 12 years of experience in a Software Engineering role in a large Enterprise software development environment.5 years of experience managing a team of software engineers of 5 or more and also architects and guiding them as Technical LeadExperience mentoring and developing backend and / or client software engineersExcellent written and oral communication skills (must be able to give honest, direct, and actionable feedback and directions)Strong knowledge of Java, Microservices, JavaScript, Pivotal Cloud Foundry, SpringBoot, etcStrong knowledge of SQL and cloud native applicationsStrong knowledge of any Cloud platforms like AWS, GCP or AzureKnowledge of working with Agile software methodologies i.e Scrum, eXtreme Programming, etcBackground with JavaScript, client-side MVC frameworks (e.g., Angular, React, Vue, etc.)Proficiency with continuous integration / continuous delivery tools and pipelines (e.g., GitHub, Maven, Gradle, Tekton, Kubernetes etc.)Alerting and Monitoring experience with ELK / Dynatrace / Splunk etc.Actively manages the long-term delivery roadmap of the software product#LI-SR1#LI- LOCAL The salary range for this position is $131,520 - $189,615The salary range information provided, reflects the anticipated base salary range for this position based on current national data.  Minimums and maximums may vary based on location.  Individual salary will be commensurate with skills, experience, certifications or licenses and other relevant factors.  In addition, this role will be eligible to participate in either the annual performance bonus or commission program, determined by the nature of the position.At Blue Yonder, we care about the wellbeing of our employees and those most important to them.
