What are the responsibilities and job description for the Director, Cloud Platform Engineering position at NorthMark Strategies?
We are seeking an experienced and visionary Cloud Platform Engineering Leader to drive our cloud strategy across AWS, Azure, and on-premises data centers. This role will oversee the development and implementation of our hybrid cloud infrastructure, governance frameworks, DevOps practices, and internal developer platforms.
Cloud Strategy and Infrastructure Management
- Develop and execute a comprehensive hybrid cloud strategy encompassing AWS, Azure, and on-premises infrastructure.
- Establish and maintain cloud governance frameworks, ensuring compliance, cost optimization, and security across all environments.
- Lead the creation of enterprise-wide standards for cloud usage, architecture, and best practices.
- Oversee the design, implementation, and management of scalable hybrid cloud infrastructure.
- Drive the adoption of Infrastructure as Code (IaC) practices to automate provisioning and management of cloud resources.
- Ensure high availability, performance, and disaster recovery capabilities across the hybrid environment.
DevOps and Internal Developer Platform
- Champion DevOps culture and practices throughout the organization.
- Implement CI/CD pipelines and automation tools to streamline development and deployment processes.
- Lead the adoption of cloud-native technologies such as containerization and serverless computing.
- Spearhead the creation and evolution of an internal developer platform to enhance developer productivity.
- Implement self-service capabilities for developers to easily provision and manage cloud resources.
- Continuously improve the developer experience through tooling, documentation, and support.
Qualifications
- 10 years of experience in IT infrastructure, with at least 5 years in leadership roles.
- Extensive hands-on experience with AWS and Azure cloud platforms; on-premises data center experience is a plus.
- Strong understanding of cloud governance, security, and compliance frameworks.
- Proven track record in implementing DevOps practices and culture in large organizations.
- Experience with Infrastructure as Code tools (e.g., Terraform, CloudFormation).
- Familiarity with container orchestration platforms like Kubernetes.
- Excellent communication skills and ability to influence C-level executives.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with multi-cloud management and optimization strategies.
- Knowledge of data center operations and hybrid cloud integration techniques.
- Certifications in AWS, Azure, and relevant DevOps technologies.
