What are the responsibilities and job description for the Command Center Technician position at BlueCross BlueShield of Tennessee?
The IT Operations Center (ITOC) team at BlueCross BlueShield of Tennessee is hiring a Command Center Technician. In this fully remote role, you’ll monitor enterprise IT systems, applications and batch jobs and assign priority tickets to support teams as needed.
Excellent communication skills, at least 1 year of technical experience (including understanding of ITIL) and solid conflict management and resolution skills are required.
Note: This is a 2nd shift role, meaning you’ll work from Sunday through Thursday (from 3:30pm – midnight EST). Additionally, mandatory rotating weekend, holiday, and overtime assignments will apply.
Job Responsibilities
- Performing first-level triage of events, such as running scripts to restart system processes and services.
- Analyzing, diagnosing, and resolving system errors, malfunctions, mis-configurations, and job stoppages to maintain services, enhance capabilities, and prevent system outages.
- Processing output produced from nightly batch.
- Renaming, cataloging, and un-cataloging data sets on tapes and disk.
- Must be able to work flexible shifts in a 24x7x365 work environment, including mandatory rotating weekend, holiday, and overtime assignments.
Job Qualifications
Education
- Associates Degree in Business, Computer Science or equivalent work experience required. (Equivalent years of experience are determined as one year of technical experience for every year of college requested).
Experience
- 1 year - Technical experience including knowledge and proven understanding of Information Technology Infrastructure Library (ITIL) required
Skills\Certifications
- Working knowledge of mainframe processes and workload automation tools, enterprise monitoring tools, trouble ticketing systems, Windows Operating Systems, and Unix operating systems (AIX, Solaris, or HPUX)
- Proficient in MicroSoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, Access and Powerpoint)
- Proven analytical and problem solving skills and ability to perform non-routine analytical tasks
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Conflict management and resolution skills
- Adaptive to high pace and changing environment
