Bluefield Research is seeking a production designer to support our team of research analysts and consultants with the quality assurance process to online publication of client deliverables. This position will report to our editorial and content director.

The Team:
The Editorial and Production team is responsible for managing the flow of company deliverables and supporting Bluefield’s research, consulting, and marketing teams to ensure the timely execution, production, and online publication of client deliverables. This team’s mission is to advocate for and uphold editorial and production styles and guidelines to maintain the consistency and integrity of all content published under the Bluefield Research brand.
The Role:
The production designer will execute high-quality designs and digital assets that adhere to established brand guidelines and creative concepts. This role emphasizes precision, attention to detail, and the timely delivery of production-ready assets. The production designer will provide design, quality assurance, and production support to our content teams in the following capacities:
- Visuals specialist: Work in PowerPoint and Word to create and edit charts, tables, maps, and other visual elements. Assist in developing client presentations, webcast presentations, and product videos and ensure that brand standards and guidelines are upheld.
- Production specialist: Ensure deliverables adhere to brand standards and facilitate the production-to-publication process. Collaborate with other editors and stakeholders to facilitate the deliverable production process, which includes document layout and formatting, version control, workflow tracking, and online publishing.
- Designer: Apply creative skills and design know-how to create engaging white paper layouts and visuals and various marketing and sales collateral, including creating original artwork for social media, newsletters, and email campaigns.
Key Responsibilities:
Support research teams with day-to-day design and production of client deliverables: Process ongoing stream of research deliverables in the production queue (i.e., presentations, reports, briefs, etc.) by reviewing content for standardized look and feel and best design practices. Clean up and enhance existing presentations to improve visual appeal and engagement. Make corrections and modifications to deliverables and design files as requested. Work closely with editors and the research team to coordinate file iterations.
Support the consulting team with custom presentations and collateral needs: Support our consulting team with custom presentations and collateral needs. Assist in developing proposals, presentations, and white papers for clients, applying data visualization techniques to translate information into easy-to-understand visuals.
Create graphics for the marketing team: Support the marketing team with graphic needs for conferences, the website, weekly newsletters, social media channels (LinkedIn and Twitter), and email campaigns. Help with collateral as needed and help us identify creative engagement methods, such as infographics. Design modern and impactful PowerPoint presentations and marketing collateral that align with corporate branding standards.
Assist with content publication: Support the editorial and production director by posting content to the website, such as blogs, press releases, and research analyses, and upload PDF files to WordPress for online publication.
Help train the company on best practices for visualization and implementing Bluefield’s style guide: Gain an understanding of Bluefield’s style guide and apply it to deliverables across research, consulting, and data teams. Provide training on graphic design software for marketing and production teams as needed.
Qualifications:
- Minimum of two years of experience in production design, data visualization, desktop publishing, or a similar role focusing on digital and print assets.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Adobe Photoshop, InDesign, Acrobat, and Google Workspace.
- Keen mindset for quality assurance with strong attention to detail.
- Ability to thrive in a structured environment and execute straightforward updates, ensuring that every deliverable meets the highest quality and consistency standards.
- Capacity to multitask by managing and executing multiple projects simultaneously, meeting deadlines, and effectively communicating with key stakeholders.
- Strong understanding of typography, layout, and visual hierarchy principles.
- Ability to follow creative direction, seek and apply the latest presentation design trends, and collaborate with a group.
- Experience with WordPress or website builders (e.g., Elementor, Gutenberg Blocks), CRM (i.e., Hubspot), and project management software (i.e., Trello, Monday.com) is a plus but not required.
- Interest in working for a small company and the ability to coordinate across global offices, from Boston to Barcelona.
Basics:
- 40 hours a week
- The position is based in Bluefield’s Boston, Massachusetts, office. (Must be in the office three days a week.)
