Job Summary:
We are seeking a detail-oriented and creative Jr. Production Designer to join our team. This Hybrid role will bridge the gap between the design and production teams, ensuring smooth transition and execution of our stationery product designs from concept to final production. The ideal candidate will be responsible for preparing and finalizing production-ready files, maintaining design consistency, and ensuring that all design specifications are met before the printing process.
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare high-quality production files based on designs provided by the graphic design team for stationery products.
- Ensure that final designs are production-ready, adhering to file format, color, and resolution specifications.
- Collaborate closely with the graphic design team to refine designs, ensuring proper alignment with design guidelines and technical requirements.
- Provide feedback to the design team on potential issues or improvements based on production capabilities.
- Work with the design and production team to understand production constraints and adjust designs accordingly.
- Troubleshoot and resolve file issues, such as font substitutions, color discrepancies, or missing elements.
- Finalize designs with accurate measurements, bleeds, color profiles, and other production-specific details.
- Convert designs into print-ready formats (PDF, AI, EPS, etc.) for press production.
- Ensure consistency across all products by double-checking designs for accuracy and adherence to style guides.
- Maintain and organize design files, including versions, archives, and specifications.
- Prepare mockups and prototypes for internal approval and testing purposes.
- Review proofs and samples to ensure designs are accurately reproduced.
- Perform quality control checks on design files before production to minimize errors.
- Create and update dielines for various stationery products, ensuring proper layout and cutting.
- Assist in developing and maintaining standardized production templates for recurring stationery products.
- Track production timelines and ensure that design files are delivered to the production team on schedule.
- Communicate effectively with both the design and production teams to clarify project requirements.
- Contribute to the optimization of workflows between design and production teams.
- Ensure all necessary legal and copyright permissions are in place for the use of design elements.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of design software, production techniques, and industry best practices.
- Implement changes or updates to designs as per feedback from clients or stakeholders.
- Help maintain the design department’s digital asset management system and file organization.
- Assist with the preparation and presentation of design concepts during client meetings as required.
- Manage multiple design projects simultaneously while maintaining high standards of quality.
- Stay informed about trends and innovations in the stationery and design industries to ensure our products are cutting-edge.
- Ensure proper documentation of design changes and approvals throughout the production process.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Graphic Design, Visual Communication, or related field (or equivalent work experience).
- Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite (Illustrator, Photoshop, InDesign).
- Experience in preparing print-ready production files for press and understanding of printing techniques.
- Strong attention to detail with an eye for design consistency and accuracy.
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
- Ability to work under tight deadlines and handle multiple projects simultaneously.
- Experience in the stationery or similar product design industry is a plus.
