What are the responsibilities and job description for the Community Support Associate position at Bluegrass Counseling Associates?
The Community Support Associate (CSA):
- teaches, models, and coaches activities of daily living (ADLs) such as:
personal hygiene
Housekeeping
meal preparation
money management
educational and vocational goal setting
nutrition needs
monitors performance of ADL skills and provides therapeutic feedback.
- Plans and facilitates community based activities (e.g.,medical appointments, grocery
shopping, leisure/recreation/socialization); facilitates access to community resources
(e.g., AA/NA meetings ,school, job placement)
- Contributes to safe and therapeutic environment by practicing verbal de-escalation and
other non-physical behavior management techniques.
- Collaborates with community systems on behalf of individuals served (e.g.school,
landlord, family, transportation provider, employer
Position Summary: The Community Support Associate assists individuals with
mental health diagnoses to develop strategies to increase Activities of Daily
Living, achieve the ability to function independently within the community and
access community resources. The CSA works collaboratively with clients to
develop skills in order to gain independence and achieve recovery.
Qualifications
High School Diploma
Experience working with individuals with behavioral health diagnoses
Qualifications Preferred
Bachelor’s Degree in a Human Service Field (i.e. Psychology, Social Work)
Major Responsibilities/Essential Functions
- Work collaboratively with an interdisciplinary team to assist individuals with mental health
diagnoses
- Assist individuals in developing skills to maintain independence in community based
housing
- Develop strategies for implementation to increase an individual’s Activities of Daily Living
- Maintain training and Continuing Education Units as required by Kentucky Statutes and
Regulations
- Assist clients in maintaining adherence with their person-centered recovery plan
- Provide opportunities for socialization through community networking
- Provide non-clinical but therapeutic behavioral intervention, support, and skills training
- Assist in accessing and utilizing community resources
- Provide education to the clients on emotional regulation and crisis coping skills
Job Types: Full-time, Contract
Pay: $18.00 - $20.00 per hour
Schedule:
- Monday to Friday
- Weekends as needed
