OPPORTUNITY

National 501c4 nonprofit organization seeks qualified candidates for the position of Northeast Regional Organizer for Offshore Wind (NRO). This position is represented by the United Steelworkers Local Union, 2022-22.

RESPONSIBILITIES

The NRO will track and review all actions related to offshore wind energy development in the Northeast United States. The NRO will engage and mobilize labor and environmental organizations and coalitions across the region to support BGA's initiatives on a high-road offshore wind industry, transmission, and clean energy manufacturing.

The NRO will work closely with BGA's Director of Offshore Wind and state, policy, research, and communications staff to design and implement an organizing and policy plan to advance key regional priorities.

The NRO will work remotely and should reside in New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, Massachusetts, Rhode Island, Connecticut, or Maine with regional travel expectations and occasional travel outside of the area (20% travel, depending on location).

Essential Duties of this role :

Stakeholder Engagement and Collaboration

Build and strengthen partnerships with BGA's allies and partner organizations in the region to foster support for key initiatives and priorities;
Cultivate relationships with labor, environmental, environmental justice, and racial equity leaders across the Northeast to advance shared goals;
Model inclusive behaviors and actively promote DEI principles through personal development, organizational practices, and by addressing implicit biases;

Policy Development and Advocacy

Collaborate with the Director of Offshore Wind to develop and execute a comprehensive regional strategy, including policy development, direct advocacy, and information gathering;

Draft policy proposals and engage with policymakers, regulators, and stakeholders to promote innovative approaches that enhance job quality, equity, and domestic supply chain development in offshore wind energy deployment;

Facilitate coordination among partners, organizations, and state agencies to share knowledge and best practices;

Monitor and evaluate proceedings, state legislation, and actions related to offshore wind energy, ensuring alignment with BGA's platform and objectives;

Convening and Facilitation

Organize and lead meetings, workshops, and forums with key stakeholders to drive progress on core policy priorities related to job quality and domestic supply chains in offshore wind energy;

Regularly attend and represent BGA at virtual and in-person offshore wind industry events, coalition meetings, workshops, and conferences to stay informed about industry trends and developments;

Cross-functional Collaboration

Partner with the communications team to deliver consistent and impactful messaging to diverse audiences, including media outlets, policymakers, and the general public;

Work closely with other BGA staff to develop and refine policy proposals and comments that align with BGA's state and regional priorities; and

Perform other duties and projects as assigned to support organizational goals.

SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS

Ability to travel regularly across the Northeast United States, with occasional out-of-area travel;

Fluency in technology platforms and Microsoft Office Suite;

Strong analytic and strategic-thinking skills;

Ability to create and implement organizing plans;

Strong skills in developing mutually respectful, trusting, and effective internal and external relationships;

Exhibit a positive and respectful manner with colleagues, partners, and allies;

Self-starter, highly motivated, detail-oriented;

EXPERIENCE

Required Experience :

Minimum 1-3 years professional experience in policy organizing, legislative or regulatory work or related field;

Minimum of 1 year of professional experience working collaboratively on issues related to climate change, renewable energy, manufacturing, and / or labor issues;

Experience in, or basic understanding of, the evolving Offshore Wind policy landscape.

Preferred Experience :

Understanding of and experience in the political landscape in the Northeast.

Experience with labor unions.

Experience creating and implementing policy organizing plans.

Experience in, or understanding of, electrical transmission and the power sector.

COMPENSATION

A compensation package including competitive salary with annual COLA increases, generous paid time off and 100% employer-funded health benefits is available.

Salary

The salary range is $80,000 - $95,000 annually, exempt. BGA utilizes salary bands to ensure pay equity and transparency. Final salary within the salary range will be based on experience level and qualifications.
