The Team
The BlueOval SK Learning and Development Team is leading the charge with developing innovative learning solutions that meet the high tempo demands of our battery manufacturing teams in Kentucky and Tennessee. We are looking for a solid instructional designer who can think on their feet, possess the ability to design creative learning solutions, and manage multiple projects without missing a beat. This person can lead new course/curriculum discussions with skill teams to align on objective, scope, and timing delivery.
Additionally, we're looking for someone who knows how to make a difference using their skills and have a passion for continuous learning and development, and an aptitude for digital tools and computer learning to help propel our organization into the future where employees' performance is optimized as a result of well-designed learning experiences.
The Position
The Instructional Designer will have a unique, once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to be a key member of the start-up team, for the new company.
What you’ll be able to do:
Needs Assessment/Analysis
- Assess organization's needs using appropriate methods and tools including competencies, charters, scoping tools, and standard needs assessment processes.
- Develop needs assessment report including proposed solutions.
- Perform task/job analysis and prepare design documents.
- Experience in breaking down complex work steps into logical steps optimized for learning retention.
Course / Curriculum Development
- Collaborates with subject matter experts to develop course content.
- Develops and designs courses and curriculum.
- Edits and develops online learning materials.
- Creates learning experiences and environments.
- Designs learning activities, assignments, and assessments.
- Creates computer-based training (CBT) modules and storyboards.
- Develops instructor’s manuals, participants’ manual, and other performance support tools.
- Analyzes, updates, and refines existing online content.
- Keeps current on best practices in instructional design.
- Writes scripts for video and audio content.
- Map learning outcomes to business needs.
- Design and collect metrics to demonstrate evidence of program effectiveness.
Build Partnership
- Build and manage relationships with manufacturing skills teams to align skill teams’ training needs to learning solutions.
- Support partnering teams with training, planning implementation, and logistics.
- Investigate and Identify new training solution to align with evolving organizational needs
Our Minimum Requirements:
- Minimum 5 years of experience in a corporate training environment.
- Bachelors Degree in Education, Instructional Design, Human Resources / Workforce Planning, or a related field
- Knowledge of instructional theory and different learning modalities including assessment/evaluations.
- Project management skills and ability to communicate project plans and progression using appropriate tools.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills.
- Ability to prioritize and manage multiple simultaneous deadlines.
- Critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work both independently and within team environment.
- Must be self-motivated with able to multi-task in a fast-paced environment.
Skills and Software Proficiencies:
- Develop deliverables in a variety of learning delivery modalities using commercially available development software (any / all of the following: Captivate, Camtasia Studio, Storyline / Articulate)
- Visual design/graphic skills (Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, InDesign)
- SharePoint 2016
- Audio/video editing skills (Adobe Premiere Pro, Audition, After Affect)
- Eager and willing to learn new technologies to meet learning demands
Our Preferred Requirements:
- Masters degree in education, Instructional Design, Human Resources / Workforce Planning, or a related field
- Knowledge of Industry 4.0—which includes connectivity, advanced analytics, automation, and advanced-manufacturing technologies (i.e., IIoT, AGVs, robotics, AI, Machine Learning, additive manufacturing)
- Experience with SAAS based guided step authoring systems (low code) and the delivery of content through client applications
- A rich understanding of modern training approaches and/or with advanced learning delivery tools (tablets, smart eyewear, mixed reality/HoloLens)
- Experience Virtual Reality learning environments and strategies
- Experience with mixed reality learning environments and strategies
Additional Information:
Travel is expected throughout 2022/2023, along with future relocation to work at either Blue Oval City in Tennessee or BlueOval SK Battery Park in Kentucky.
