We are looking for a proactive and detail-oriented Controller to lead and manage our accounting function and support strategic decision-making. You’ll work closely with leadership and supervise our current Accounting Assistant while owning the day-to-day of our financial operations.
Key Responsibilities:
Financial Management & Reporting
- Oversee all accounting operations including A/R, A/P, general ledger
- Maintain accurate and timely financial reporting using Sage Intacct accounting software
- Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements and forecasts
- Manage month-end and year-end close processes
Reporting & Analysis
- Generate financial reports and dashboards to support business decisions
- Monitor cash flow, track KPIs, and perform variance and trend analyses
- Support budgeting and forecasting processes in collaboration with leadership
- Support budgeting, cash flow management, and financial planning initiatives
- Identify opportunities to improve processes and reduce costs
Compliance & Controls
- Ensure compliance with GAAP, regulatory filings, and tax requirements at federal, state and local levels
- Maintain internal controls and ensure accuracy of financial records
- Coordinate with external accountants for audits and tax filings
Team Leadership
- Supervise and mentor the Accounting Assistant, ensuring accurate transactional work and professional development
- Develop and refine accounting procedures and documentation for consistency and scalability
System Oversight
- Act as the in-house expert for Sage Intacct, including reporting, workflow, and process optimization ( previous experience with sage intacct not required)
- Help identify opportunities for automation and processes improvements
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field(CPA or MBA not required)
- 5 years of accounting experience, preferably in energy, utilities, or distribution
- Prior experience in a Controller, Assistant Controller, or similar senior accounting role
- Strong proficiency in Sage Intacct or similar cloud-based ERP/accounting platforms is a plus
- Excellent understanding of GAAP and financial reporting standards
- Strong analytical, communication, and leadership skills

Pay: $70,000.00 - $85,000.00 per year
