What are the responsibilities and job description for the Inventory Accountant position at BlueSky Resource Solutions?
This position will collaborate closely with the reconditioning finance team and various cross-functional teams. The ideal candidate is a self-starter with strong communication skills, the ability to build trust, and the capacity to influence decision-making across multiple levels of the organization.
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare month-end journal entries for inventory, capitalized freight, customer-owned drums, in-transit inventory, inventory deferral, slow-moving and obsolete inventory (SLOB), and other required entries.
- Oversee inventory accounting and maintain inventory and unvouchered payables sub-ledgers.
- Serve as a resource for site accountants regarding inventory-related issues.
- Maintain and update standard costs, including the calculation of new standards as necessary.
- Prepare schedules for balance sheet analysis.
- Support FP&A deliverables, including variance analysis, forecasting, and budgeting.
- Provide plant accounting support for two to three manufacturing locations.
- Manage intercompany transactions and ensure proper accounting treatment.
- Prepare account reconciliations as assigned.
- Perform ad-hoc financial analysis and support special projects.
- Assist with external audit requests and ensure compliance with reporting requirements.
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders across the company.
Qualifications & Skills:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or a related field.
- 5 years of accounting experience, including month-end close processes.
- Experience with inventory accounting and account reconciliations.
- Strong proficiency in Excel (advanced skills required).
- Experience working in a fast-paced environment.
- Familiarity with large ERP systems (Microsoft Dynamics SL is a plus).
- Strong attention to detail and analytical skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
