FP& A Manager (hybrid role)

Bluestem Brands recently entered into a ten-year partnership with Sonata Software, a provider of technology solutions to manage Bluestem Brands’ front and back-end platforms and infrastructure. This role be accountable for all financial aspects of the Sonata partnership and other large technology agreements, as well as the management of the overall technology expense and capital planning processes. The role will have a Bluestem Brands responsibility and report to the Fingerhut business division; this is a hybrid role located at our Corporate Headquarters in Eden Prairie.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Leads the technology expense and capital forecast process for total Bluestem, including active coordination and communication with technology leadership and the Orchard FP&A team
• Accountable for financial contract management of the Sonata Software agreement
• Collaborates with Bluestem technology leaders to track and monitor technology project hours and billable expenses
• Identifies hardware and software maintenance savings opportunities and proactively determines risks and opportunities of achieving the contracted maintenance savings targets
• Coordinates with technology, accounting, and finance partners to ensure the cash and EBITDA impact of the Sonata Software agreement is properly accounted for in actual results and financial forecasts
• Leverages understanding of the business to make recommendations and influence decision making regarding the financial management of technology spend
• Drives and monitors financial performance through analyzing and interpreting operating results, investigating variances and unusual items, and evaluating their effect on operations
• Manages a senior financial analyst responsible for the technology department P&L, including capital expenditures
• Prepares and presents financial reports to Bluestem leadership
• Other duties or responsibilities as assigned

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

• Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Economics, or Accounting
• 5 years of financial accounting or FP&A experience; preferably in a technology-heavy environment
• Experience collaborating with, presenting to, and regularly communicating complex information to executive and senior leadership
• Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office programs including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
• Experience building strong relationships across all levels of the organization
• Innovative, self-starter; consistently looking for new ways of doing things and takes a creative approach to problem solving

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

• MBA or CPA/CMA
• Proven analytical and problem-solving skills
• Work autonomously in a rapidly changing, fast-paced, results-oriented environment
• Experience working with technology projects and partners
• Experience with contract management
