Position Overview:
Under the supervision of the Center Director performs ADL's and activities within the scope of practice of a Certified Nursing Assistant such as clinical observation, clinical reporting requirements, participant laundry, participant care training and education. It is the responsibility of the Day Center CNA to provide and assist participants with activities of daily living, restorative and supportive care. Monitors health status and provides a safe environment for participants. Functions as a member of the interdisciplinary team on an as needed basis.
Essential Job Functions:
- Participate as a member of the interdisciplinary team on an as needed basis.
- Carry out plan of care activities within the CNA scope of practice as directed.
- Assist and/or supervise participants with activities of daily living (bathing, dressing, grooming, hair care, mouth care, eating, hand and food nail care, and toileting) as assigned or needed under supervision.
- Serve, monitor and assist participants with meals.
- Throughout the day, assist in maintaining clean and orderly day rooms, kitchenette, and personal care areas.
- Accompany participants to medical and other appointments as needed.
- Perform and or assist with laundry, including clothes for participants.
- Assist transportation staff with the loading and unloading of participants from vehicles.
- Provide Escort assistance on transportation vehicles when requested.
- Note changes in participant’s physical or emotional health and communicate this information to the Life Enrichment Coordinator or designee.
- Maintain participant’s medical record and fulfill charting and reporting requirements.
- Assist the transportation department with participants’ takes home supplies.
- Act only within the scope of his or her authority to practice.
- Participate in and support Quality Improvement initiatives.
- Follow all Policies and Procedures and OSHA safety guidelines.
- Maintain the confidentiality of all company procedures, results and information about participants, clients or families.
- Handle potentially infectious specimens with appropriate biohazard precautions and practices standard precautions.
- Demonstrate dependability through consistent compliance with scheduled work hours.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Must be at least eighteen [18]-years of age
- Must have working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite.
- Must hold active Certified Nurse Aide license in Kansas.
- Prefer 1 year working with a frail or elderly population.
Physical Requirements:
Medium Work – Exerting 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 10 to 25 pounds of force frequently and/or greater than negligible up to 10 pounds of force constantly.
