We are currently looking for enthusiastic and experienced individuals to join our dynamic team as Receptionist/scheduling/Admin personnel in upbeat medical offices located on Hilton Head Island and in Bluffton, South Carolina. It is a small office and several aspects of the office may need familiarizing.
Candidates applying for this position should have a strong background in working in medical offices — whether that is a doctor’s office or hospital — and an understanding that learning the flow of an office is imperative to being able to succeed. We are looking for someone who can move quickly, but not in a rush.
Previous experience as a medical receptionist is essential, as the role will include (but is not limited to) the following responsibilities:
- Register new patients, collect and verify their personal and insurance information.
- Schedule appointments and manage the appointment calendar efficiently, coordinating with the doctor’s schedule.
- Answer phone calls, address inquiries, and provide information to patients regarding services, office hours, and appointment details.
- Verify insurance coverage, process insurance claims, and handle billing inquiries when necessary.
- Assist patients in completing necessary forms and medical history documentation.
- Manage patient records and ensure they are accurate, confidential, and up-to-date.
- Coordinate with the medical staff to ensure a smooth patient flow, including escorting patients to examination rooms.
- Collect payments and copayments from patients, providing receipts and maintaining financial records.
- Handle and distribute incoming mail, faxes, and other correspondence.
- Utilize office software and systems to schedule appointments, manage patient data, and maintain electronic health records (EHR).
- Assist with the processing of prior authorizations for tests, procedures, and medications as required.
- Maintain confidentiality and adhere to HIPAA regulations in handling patient information.
Professionalism (integrity, punctuality, exceptional customer service skills, and proficiency in computer operations/typing) is the cornerstone of this position. Maintaining attendance at work is extremely important.
