Position Summary
The assistant professor of nutrition and dietetics teaches courses in the graduate and undergraduate nutrition and dietetics curriculum and general education courses, and functions as an academic advisor for students majoring in nutrition and dietetics.

Commensurate with education and experience within the university pay scale.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities
- Teach 28-32 credit hours of courses in the general education curriculum, undergraduate nutrition and dietetics curriculum and integrated master’s program in nutrition and dietetics of Bluffton University per calendar year.
- Maintain an active agenda of scholarship and creative work as appropriate for tenure-track and tenured faculty at Bluffton University.
- Engage in service to the university and community as appropriate for tenure-track and tenured faculty at Bluffton University.
- Implement competency-based education and assessment to meet the standards set by the Accreditation Council for Education in Nutrition & Dietetics (ACEND).
- Partner with local hospital administrators and nutrition care team to coordinate and schedule clinical nutrition experiential learning to supplement coursework.
- Provide academic advising and career mentoring to current undergraduate students.
- Assist department chair and director of nutrition and dietetics with curriculum development and systematic program review.
Minimum:
- Education and Experience: Master’s degree in nutrition with current RDN registration under the Academy of Nutrition & Dietetics. Applicant must maintain credentials during appointment.
- Skill/Abilities:
- Demonstrated commitment to and evidence of teaching experience in nutrition or closely related areas such as pathophysiology, biology or healthcare.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision, prioritizing a large volume of work and meeting deadlines efficiently and accurately.
- Excellent organizational skills with ability to maintain flexibility to redirect efforts when priorities change.
- Demonstrated ability to organize and prioritize multiple work assignments, managing both complicated long-range projects and proposals as well as short term/immediate tasks, evaluate workload and resources, problem solve.
- Education/Certification: Ph.D. or equivalent degree in nutrition and dietetics or related field.
- 2 years of inpatient clinical nutrition experience.
- Specialty certification in diabetes, renal and/or nutrition support.
- Skill/Abilities: Thorough understanding of ACEND accreditation or competency-based education
