Position Description
We are seeking a highly organized and motivated Assistant Project Manager to support our Project Management team in overseeing civil construction projects from planning through completion. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of civil construction practices and project management principles, with a focus on providing administrative and operational support to ensure the smooth execution of projects.
Responsibilities:
- Assist the Project Manager in coordinating various activities of the construction project, ensuring that tasks are completed on time and within budget.
- Help develop and maintain project schedules. Track milestones and deadlines, ensuring proper sequencing of work.
- Monitor project expenses, assist with cost estimates, track invoices, and manage financial records to ensure the project stays within the allocated budget.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date project documents such as contracts, reports, drawings, permits, and change orders.
- Act as a point of contact between project stakeholders (e.g., contractors, clients, engineers, and suppliers) and ensure clear, timely communication regarding project progress and issues.
- Conduct regular site visits to ensure safety standards are met, inspect work quality, and identify potential issues.
- Assist in identifying and mitigating risks associated with safety, project timelines, quality, and budget overruns.
- Help manage the allocation of labor, materials, and equipment, ensuring they are available when needed.
- Ensure that the project complies with all relevant local, state, and federal regulations, as well as company policies and procedures.
- Assist in addressing and resolving issues that arise during construction, such as delays, unforeseen conditions, or changes in project scope.
- Prepare regular progress reports for the Project Manager, stakeholders, and clients, detailing project status, costs, and potential risks.
- Assist in managing subcontractors by ensuring their work aligns with project specifications and deadlines.

Qualifications
Position Requirements

- Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering, Construction Management, or related field experience.
- At least 1-3 years of experience working in civil construction or related field.
- Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office.
- Knowledge of scheduling software such as Microsoft Project or Primavera P6 preferred.
- Familiarity with software such as AutoCAD, Bluebeam, or other construction management tools.
- Understanding of scheduling techniques and tools, such as Gantt charts or critical path method scheduling.
- Experience with budgeting, financial analysis, and cost management for construction projects.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to lead small teams, collaborate effectively, and provide support to Project Managers.
- Must possess a valid unrestricted driver’s license.
- Strong critical thinking and decision-making skills.
- Strong organizational skills with attention to detail.
Working Conditions:
- Work is performed both in an office setting and on project sites.
- Must be able to work outdoors in various weather conditions.
- May require occasional weekend and evening work to meet project deadlines.
