Accounts Payable Manager Role
The Accounts Payable Manager will oversee and manage the accounts payable function, ensuring timely and accurate processing of invoices and payments. This role requires strong leadership skills, deep technical knowledge of accounts payable processes, and the ability to collaborate across departments to drive improvements.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and manage the accounts payable team, including training, performance management, and development of staff.
- Oversee the end-to-end accounts payable process, including invoice processing, payment runs, vendor management, and reconciliations.
- Ensure accurate and timely processing of vendor invoices, ensuring compliance with company policies and procedures.
- Manage the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports related to accounts payable.
- Collaborate with internal teams such as procurement and accounting to resolve issues, ensure data accuracy, and improve processes.
- Assist internal, external, and regulatory auditors in their examination of accounting records related to accounts payable.
- Develop and implement strategies for process improvement, automation, and cost control in the accounts payable function.
- Handle vendor inquiries and resolve disputes in a professional and timely manner.
- Monitor and manage cash flow and payment schedules to ensure liquidity and avoid late payment penalties.
- Assist with month-end and year-end closing activities.
- Validate correct maintenance of vendor files, including receipt of W-9's, and preparation of 1099's.
Requirements:
- Minimum of 10 years of accounts payable experience, with a deep understanding of AP processes and systems.
- At least 3 years of managerial experience, with a proven track record of leading and developing teams.
- Strong proficiency with accounts payable software and ERP systems (e.g., AS 400, NetSuite, QuickBooks, or similar).
- Experience with ERP and other software implementation preferred.
- Advanced Excel skills and the ability to analyze and interpret financial data.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and leadership skills.
- Strong problem-solving abilities and attention to detail.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and work under pressure to meet deadlines.
- Knowledge of accounting principles, tax regulations, and compliance requirements related to accounts payable.
Estimated Salary Range:
$120,000 - $180,000 per annum, depending on location and experience.
