What are the responsibilities and job description for the Land Surveyor (Field Crew Chief) position at BME Associates?
BME Associates is currently hiring Land Surveyors for the position of field crew chief. BME is a privately held consulting Engineering and Land Surveying firm with the Design Professional Corporation (DPC) designation in the state of New York with approximately 30 employees operating in the greater Rochester area. The Survey Crew Chief functions as the lead staff member among a field survey crew. They undertake all of the outlined activities and functions of a survey, with the added responsibilities of coordination with engineering groups and overall responsibility for field work of their specific survey crew.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities:
1. Supervise, direct and participate in daily tasks of survey crew.
2. Compute right-of-way and property lines.
3. Research property records.
4. Verify land ownership for plans and plats according to public records.
5. Collect and prepare data files for property plats and topographical maps.
6. Accurately measures and records notes and sketches of work performed.
7. In-office responsibilities include compilation and tabulation of field data.
8. Coordination and communication with engineering groups pertaining to field requirements and data.
9. Continues training in current survey technology and techniques.
10. Responsible for Quality Assurance of all work performed by survey field crew.
Education and/or experience:
- Associates degree or higher preferred.
- Minimum of 5-6 years of field experience working on a field crew.
- Basic CAD skills and general computer literacy.
Salary : $60,000 - $80,000
