Description
- Provides technical problem solving/quality expertise to production teams.
- Performs root cause analysis of complex quality problems utilizing tools such as 8D, Six Sigma, Projects, or SPC).
- Participates in driving continuous quality improvement activities for Plant manufacturing issues.
- Coordinates cross-functional quality improvement/issue resolution teams to address repetitive issues and quality improvement with a focus on preventative measures.
- Defines, implements, and validates effectiveness of inline controls and inspections.
- Drives internal department issues to closure using the Problem Management Process (PQM).
- Determines key process characteristics while developing and steering implementation of control mechanisms.
- Steers quality topics in daily Work Organization.
- Ensures relevant BMW standards & specifications are met to achieve quality product results.
- Leads investigations from product audits regarding defect landscape & indicator results.
- Reports status updates of open topics in Technology department meetings.
- Steers change management process for quality topics of respective area.
- Performs PFMEA (Process Failure Modes Effects and Analysis) as needed to proactively evaluate a process with higher defect risk with delivery of risk assessment and countermeasures.
- Collaborates and supports quality planning for series production.
- Provides feedback to quality planning for new model production using lessons learned from series production.
- Ensures product evaluation for quality review and analyzes the results.
- Ensures quality systems are up to date, accurate, and comply with corporate & industry standards.
- Verifies that products meet quality requirements and communicates issues to the respective area.
- Conducts in-depth data analysis for the problem-solving process.
- Facilitates containments of non-conforming product.
- Participates in the handover of open issues from pre-series to series in the quality management process.
- Understands and models VPS (Value Added Production System) Principles and concepts of Standard Work and Problem Solving.
- Adheres to 5S and Safety Standards and Principles.
- Performs other duties as assigned by management.
- BA/BS degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, or Industrial preferred); OR AA/AS degree in a related technical field AND 2 years of professional engineering experience in a manufacturing environment; OR The equivalent of 4 years of professional engineering experience in a manufacturing environment.
- 2 years of professional engineering experience in a manufacturing environment.
- 2 years of experience using root cause analysis and technical quality methods to solve complex process problems.
- 1 years of experience in a quality role. Six Sigma Greenbelt (required within 2 years).
- Certified Quality Engineer (preferred).
- 3 years of MS Office skills (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, SharePoint, Access).
- 3 years of communication skills (verbal, written, presentation).
- 2 years of skills utilizing technical problem-solving tools, such as 5 whys, Fishbone analysis, 8D, and Control Charts.
- 1 years knowledge of drawing specification and interpretation.
- 2 years knowledge of hazard and risk register (preferred).
- 1 years knowledge of quality measurement equipment and software (preferred).
- 1 years knowledge of metrology and dimensional management tools (preferred).
- German language skills (preferred).
