Description

• Coordinates and executes the measurement data acquisition of geometric problems and provides data for root cause analysis for internal and external customers, including Engineering, Parts/Process Quality Management, and parts suppliers. Offers measurement support to process partners.
• Delivers accurate measurement data to the customer within established time requirements.
• Determines the necessary set-up and measurement method for investigations.
• Analyzes data provided to customers and provides accurate data to customer to support root cause analysis of issues.Collaborates on solutions to complex metrology problems for single part measurements, total vehicle, cubing evaluations, and/or process and dimensional investigations.
• Supports with adhering to BMW Group standards for testing equipment (CMM, Laser Tracking, 3D Scanning) and testing methods, if applicable.
• Executes measurement plans using relevant software/measurement equipment.
• Collaborates with planning, maintenance, calibration, and operation of all equipment in the assigned area, if applicable.
• Represents metrology results for Plant Spartanburg in launch teams.
• Collaborates with process partners on Plant-wide PMP (Problem-Management Process), 8D, and cross-functional teams.
• Executes benchmarking with BMW Group Plants and implements best practices.
• Understands and models VPS (Value Added Production System) Principles and concepts of Standard Work and Problem Solving.
• Adheres to 5S and Safety Standards and Principles.
• Performs other duties as assigned by management.

Qualifications

• BA/BS degree in Engineering or related technical discipline.

OR

• AA/AS degree in a technical field AND 2 years of professional manufacturing experience in quality or product design.

OR

• The equivalent of 4 years of professional manufacturing experience in quality or product design.
• 2 years of professional tactile and/or optical metrology equipment experience in a manufacturing environment.
• 1 years of experience reading blueprints, drawings, and/or measurement plans.
• 1 years of CAD experience (CATIA preferred).
• 1 years of metrology software experience (Polyworks, Calypso, and/or
• Zeiss Inspect (GOM) preferred).
• Valid Drivers License (preferred)
• Metrology or GD&T professional certificate (preferred)
• Lean Six Sigma Greenbelt training (preferred)
• Blitz HV2 (preferred)
• 3 years of MS Office skills (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook,
• SharePoint, Access).
• 3 years of professional communication skills (written, verbal and
• presentation).
• 2 years knowledge of Body, Assembly, Quality, or Battery processes
• (preferred).
• 2 years knowledge of 3D alignment (preferred).
• 2 years of problem-solving skills.
• 2 years knowledge of developing, understanding, and applying 3D
• alignment schemes.
• 2 years of tactile and optical measurement equipment skills.
• 1 years of automated measurement programming skills (preferred).
• 1 years of mechanical skills in a virtual and hands-on environment.
• 1 years of leadership skills. German language skills (preferred).
