Job Summary:
The BNY Data and Analytics Solutions (D&A) Database Operations (DBO) group is seeking an exceptional candidate to join our team. We seek candidates with strong analytical and problem skills, dedication to providing excellent client service and a desire to continuously improve efficiency.
This Database Administrator role will be responsible for the administration of hundreds of Oracle database environments. This includes evaluating and implementing new features and technology, developing standards and procedures, performance tuning, patching, upgrades, implementing backup/recovery/cloning strategies, and working with clients and internal organizations to resolve issues. The individual will need to leverage Oracle and Linux systems knowledge and experience along with scripting skills to develop automation for monitoring and routine tasks. Along with these core database administrations skills, the role requires experience architecting new database environment strategies, preferably with cloud services such as Azure, AWS, Oracle Cloud Infrastructure, etc.

Required Qualifications:
- 5 years of Oracle RDBMS/ASM experience
- Good troubleshooting skills
- SQL/PLSQL coding skills to help analyze issues
- Basic SQL performance tuning experience (the more the better)
- Analyzing SQL plans, traces
- Creating plan profiles, Indexing strategies, and Partitioning strategies
- SQL code optimization/hinting strategies
- Working knowledge of Linux OS fundamentals
- Shell scripting skills
- Exadata/RAC experience is a plus
- Oracle Enterprise Manager experience is a plus
- Monitor and administer internal and client database environments using Oracle Enterprise Manager and other tools.
- Perform database patching and upgrades for RDBMS and Grid infrastructure on Linux and Exadata servers.
- Analyze and help correct SQL, database, and system performance issues.
- Create and enforce standards for all aspects of the database environment. This includes initialization parameters, naming conventions, coding, indexing, patching, backup and recovery, etc.
- Work with other teams to automate the build of new database environments.
- Setup and maintain Oracle Golden Gate services for client data replication.
- Work closely with internal organizations to respond to client issues and support requests.
- Develop strategies and automation to improve database manageability, availability, and performance.
- Evaluating and implementing new database technologies.
- Architecting, planning, and configuring database environments for migration to Azure.
- Work shift: Mon-Fri 1:00PM - 9:00PM ET
- Initial work shift during training may be as follows for the few weeks: Mon-Fri 9:00AM - 5:00PM ET
- Weekend on-call duties on a rotating basis with the rest of the team.
- Sat: 9:00AM - 9:00PM for scheduled work and as needed for emergency coverage.
- Sun: As needed for emergency coverage.
- Hiring in our Boston, MA - Pittsburgh, PA - Lake Mary, FL offices. (Remote work possible)
