We are currently looking for an Intern- IT Network/Telecom to work in our Baton Rouge, LA location.
POSITION DESCRIPTION:
The new intern position is essential to assist with programming VOIP equipment and organizing network gear, ensuring efficient setup and maintenance of communication systems. This role will support the team in managing the growing demand for network infrastructure, optimizing performance, and ensuring smooth operations for internal and client-facing services.
REQUIRED SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE, AND EXPERIENCE:
Basic Networking Knowledge – Understanding of networking concepts like IP addresses, DNS, DHCP, and subnets.
Familiarity with VOIP Technology – Basic understanding of VOIP protocols and equipment configuration.
Problem-Solving Abilities – Ability to troubleshoot basic network and telecommunication issues.
Technical Aptitude – Comfort with using and learning new hardware and software tools for network and VOIP setup.
Attention to Detail – Precision in sorting and organizing network gear and maintaining accurate records.
Communication Skills – Ability to clearly explain technical issues and solutions.
Teamwork and Collaboration – Willingness to work with other team members and departments.
PREFERRED SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE, AND EXPERIENCE:
Experience with Network Configuration Tools – Familiarity with network setup, configuration tools, and testing protocols.
Knowledge of VOIP Platforms – Experience with popular VOIP systems and understanding of setup and optimization.
Networking Certifications – Basic certifications like CompTIA Network or similar.
Hands-on Experience – Experience working with network cables, routers, switches, or VOIP devices.
Familiarity with Telecom Equipment – Exposure to telecom hardware like PBXs, routers, and gateways.
REQUIRED EDUCATION:
High School Diploma
Pursuing a degree in an IT Technical College
