Industrial Painter Lead

Summary

Job Description

The purpose of this position is to support the department supervisor by ensuring Teammates are following standardized work procedures, receiving regular training and constructive feedback, and following all safety guidelines, while promoting a positive work environment.

Essential Functions

• Paint parts and custom boat trailers using both High Velocity Low Pressure (HVLP) spray guns and Electrostatic paint guns.
• Learn and understand a wide variety of job duties to an elevated level of detail.
• Monitor and administer teammate training within a production environment.
• Motivate teammates to achieve maximum quality and productivity.
• Assist with validation of training materials by working with Engineers & Supervisors.
• Assist Supervisor in identifying training gaps by conducting training audits.
• Utilize training audit results to perform on-the-job training to correct deficiencies and retest.
• Observe and inspect work to make necessary changes to documentation or processes.
• Collaborate with teammates to make recommendations to improve operations and optimize production, while positively contributing to safety, quality, cost, and lead time.
• Provide feedback to teammates and assist in evaluating abilities.
• Maintain outstanding communication in training and development of production staff.
• Ensure training records are completed and submitted to Supervisor in a timely manner.
• Participate in the continuous improvement of all training systems and procedures.
• Provide line balance and position relief, as needed, to ensure production flow and quality standards are maintained.
• Ensure all actions are in compliance with rules, regulations, policies, and procedures.
• Complete other duties and cross-training activities as assigned.
  
  

Additional Duties

• Work overtime, as required, to ensure proper start up and completion of daily production.
• Cross-train in other departments to be able to assist where and when needed.
  
  

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required
• Leadership experience preferred
• Experience with Lean Manufacturing and 5S preferred
  
  

Specialized Knowledge

• Knowledge, recognition and use of HVLP and Electrostatic spray guns.
• Knowledge of arithmetic, algebra, geometry, and their applications

• Excellent communications skills required (verbal and written); must be able to communicate in a variety of ways so that team members understand training and redirection (e.g., verbal, written, visual, hands-on)
• Ability to provide written documentation that is both detailed and highly accurate
• Ability to follow both written and verbal procedures
• Ability to work under pressure and adapt to changing priorities and job duties
• Ability to read and interpret written instructions
  
  

Physical Requirements

• Ability to visually inspect products close range, distance, color variations
• Ability to quickly move your hands, arms, or fingers to grasp, manipulate, or assemble objects
• Balance and flexibility, with an ability to safely navigate over and around equipment and tools
• Ability to work in varied positions (e.g., overhead, flat, and vertical work)
• Prolonged periods of standing, kneeling, bending, and squatting
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds
  
  

Occupational Conditions

• Manufacturing facility – must comply with all safety regulations and PPE requirements (e.g., gloves, face shields, steel toe shoes, safety glasses)
• Exposure to hot and cold temps for long periods of time
