What are the responsibilities and job description for the BJA Middle School English Faculty position at Bob Jones Academy?
POSITION SUMMARY: Provide student instruction from a biblical worldview for middle school courses in the English department, advise students and parents concerning academic matters, and perform service duties as needed within the school.
PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Key Results Area #1 Develop quality instruction to enhance student learning
· Teach assigned courses
· Perform extra-curricular functions (e.g. coaching, student organization sponsors, etc.)
· Disciple students through relationship building
· Model effective oral and written communication
Key Results Area #2 Support the mission of BJA
· Participate in activities related to the school (e.g. grade-level assemblies, school spirit activities)
· Maintain student academic grades and attendance
· Attend chapel and BJA faculty meetings
· Communicate the religious beliefs of BJA to students and student affiliates
· Answer questions concerning BJA’s statement of faith and biblical position to parents, students, or those inquiring about BJA
· Maintain professional appearance and presentation
Key Results Area #3 Partner with parents to support student growth
· Communicate expectations consistently with parents
· Communicate grades on a timely basis through the Student Management System
· Resolve parental concerns in a timely and gracious manner
· Engage parents in matters of student discipleship

· Attend conferences in academic field
· Participate in Professional Learning Communities
· Collaborate with subject area department
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

- Able to communicate a biblical worldview and integrate biblical principles into subject matter
- Developing expert knowledge of teaching field
- Able to incorporate digital technology in instruction
- Demonstrate excellent communication skills in the classroom and interpersonally with students
- Developing organizational abilities in teaching and classroom management
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
- Bachelors degree in secondary education preferred
- Degree in area of teaching plus appropriate experience preferred; work on graduate degree preferred
- Must be comfortable in a digital environment and able to learn the school management system
- Microsoft Office
CERTIFICATES AND LICENSES:
- Teacher certification preferred
- Will need to apply for a teaching certificate from the South Carolina Association of Christian Schools
