What are the responsibilities and job description for the Air Force JROTC Instructor position at Bob Jones High?
Job Goal: Motivate and encourage students to develop skills, attitudes and knowledge needed to provide a foundation for becoming a responsible citizen.
Qualifications:
- Must be a retired United States Air Force Commissioned Officer
- Bachelor’s degree required
- Complete the mandatory Air Force JROTC Instructor Certification Course (JICC) as a condition of certification
- Must be eligible for a Alabama Teaching Certificate
FLSA: Exempt
Reports To: Principal
Background Check Required: (Ala. Code §§ 16-22A-5) Upon offer of employment, employees will be required to submit legible fingerprints for a background review by the Alabama Bureau of Investigation and the Federal Bureau of Investigation. Background checks may not be more than ten (10) years old.
Essential Functions:
- Maintains supply accountability in strict compliance with Air Force security regulations
- Responsible for unit logistics
- Utilizes and follows the state course of study
- Determines individual and class needs
- Establishes objectives and plans learning experiences
- Implements activities using a variety of techniques that utilize instructional time to meet objectives
- Organizes, supervises and participates in extracurricular activities for AFJROTC cadets to include color guard, drill teams and other special activities
- Evaluates student progress and counsels cadets on their performance within the AFJROTC program
- Maintains AFJROTC student records as required by the Department of Air Force regulations and local policies
- Complies with Air Force and school district safety guidelines when instructing, supervising, monitoring and accompanying cadets
- Exhibits positive human relations skills
- Communicates with parents/ guardians, colleagues and community groups
- Demonstrates proficiency in written and oral communication
- Maintains and submits records and reports
- Adheres to school system rules, administrative procedures, local board policy, and state and federal rules and regulations
- Engages in personal professional growth and demonstrates professional ethics and leadership
- Be an Ambassador of the Air Force. An AFJROTC instructor is expected to exemplify a positive image of the Air Force at all times by conducting themselves in a highly professional manner, in both their words and their actions
- Other duties as assigned
- This position will be subject to the Students First Act of 2011. Madison City Schools reserves the right to fill this position by transfer of a qualified applicant who is already employed by Madison City Schools.
- Under the Students First Act of 2011, no credit toward tenure or non-probationary status is earned in the initial school year of employment if the date of hire occurs after September 30.
Expected Employment: 240 (full year)
Evaluation: According to established Board policies and administrative procedures and guidelines.
