What are the responsibilities and job description for the History Graduate Assistant (GA) position at Bob Jones University?
POSITION SUMMARY: Provide support for faculty and students involved in the course Hi 101, The Making of the Modern World, through assisting with paperwork, grading, coaching students, and keeping attendance and grade records.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Tutor Hi 101 students, helping them with study and test taking strategies.
- Hold review sessions before tests in Hi 101.
- Train, provide content for, and oversee peer leaders who conduct study groups.
- Assist with grading projects.
- Proctor one or both Hi 101 sections.
- Take attendance and submit the absences in a timely fashion on Avenue for both Hi 101 lecture sections.
- Aid the lecturer in administering and grading tests.
- Respond to student queries about absences.
- Perform other duties as requested by the lecturer of Hi 101 and the head of the Division of History, Government, and Social Science.
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
- Possess knowledge of history
- Communicate effectively in writing and speaking
- Demonstrate organizational abilities in classroom management
- Possess and communicate a Biblical worldview and integrate biblical principles into subject matter
- Present him/herself in a professional appearance and manner
