Summary:
The Estimating Department Leader mentors, leads, trains and supports estimators while overseeing the quality of estimates and deliverables from design-build to the hard bid level. They collaborate with various departments to support projects through all stages, ensuring accurate estimates that set operations up to be successful on their projects and are an active part of the team that strategically pursues new business. The role includes the ability to analyze data for feasibility studies, perform budget estimates, provide value engineering ideas, review constructability and drive client presentations in a personable and sociable manner. The leader is also active in industry organizations that helps secure new business opportunities, strengthens the organization’s industry presence and helps keep Bobbitt engaged and up to date with the current industry standards.
Roles & Responsibilities:
- Provide accurate and competitive estimates within well-prepared deliverables for a wide range of market sectors.
- Communicate any constructability or budget concerns while preparing deliverables for the client.
- Create and update specifications and scope of work documents.
- Communicate with Design, Project Developers, Accounting, and Project Management teams throughout the life of the project as needed.
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with suppliers, subcontractors, vendors and clients.
- Allocate resources for estimating tasks and maintain relevant documentation.
- Deliver comprehensive preconstruction services with minimal oversight.
- Analyze and qualify proposals while factoring in market conditions and subcontractor input to make strategic adjustments to trade package costs.
- Collaborate with project teams during design and preconstruction phases to ensure smooth project transitions.
- Lead presentations, client interviews, and strategic preparation.
- Manage multiple projects, deadlines, and delegate tasks effectively.
- Demonstrate a positive, proactive attitude with a continuous improvement mindset.
- Coach, train, and support preconstruction team members in a proactive manner.

Work Format:
This position requires team collaboration and presence at in-person meetings and is best suited to a traditional work schedule. Occasional remote work is acceptable.
Travel Requirements:
- Occasional travel (10-15%) to meetings and events, typically within a 150-mile radius of the office.
- Occasional travel to various job site locations as needed for photography or milestone events.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to lift 50 lbs.
- Ability to sit and/or stand for prolonged periods of time.
- Ability to see well (naturally or with correction).
