Cypress Landing Golf Course, located in Chocowinity, North Carolina, and managed by Bobby Jones Links, is hiring for an Irrigation/Spray Technician. Cypress Landing Golf Course is an 18-hole, par-72 golf course designed by Bill Love with Ault, Clark & Associates that is a certified Audubon sanctuary. Over the years, it has maintained a 4 Star Rating from Golf Digest and garnered recognition from the USGA and the Carolina Golf Association. A beautifully maintained course, a friendly atmosphere, and year-round competitive and social activities make it a favorite in the area.

The Irrigation/Spray Technician will be under the direction of the Golf Course Superintendent, applies chemicals and fertilizers, maintains and repairs irrigation, operates light to moderate size equipment on the golf course, and does related work as needed for the golf course maintenance department.

Responsibilities of the Irrigation/Spray Technician at Cypress Landing Golf Course include:

• Spraying fertilizers, herbicides, insecticides, fungicides and other turf treatment products as needed.
• Apply granular fertilizer and other turf health products as needed.
• Maintains spray and spread equipment to perform properly for upcoming applications.
• Maintains as accurate inventory of all products received and used.
• Repairs broken pipes, leaking fittings, weeping sprinklers, non-operating sprinklers and controller or wiring issues. Routine work includes troubleshooting the system as needed, as well.
• When immediate issues do not have to be addressed, the technician will level sprinklers and set them to grade, check sprinkler arcs and nozzles and perform audits to improve irrigation scheduling. Also responsible for preventative maintenance, such as cleaning out controllers, keeping irrigation room and cart organized and clean, replacing and leveling valve boxes and cleaning pump station.
• Maintains a clean and organized work space.
• Will be utilized for assisting with course set up, mowing, etc.
• Maintains positive interactions with club members and guests, providing a high level of customer service.
• Performs any and all duties as assigned by the Golf Course Superintendent, as deemed appropriate.

Qualifications

Required Skills

• Strong interpersonal skills
• Must be a team player with a positive attitude.
• Previous experience on golf course and/or landscape experience, preferred.
• Ability to comprehend instructions given in English.
• General knowledge of the game of golf and golf course preferred.
• Ability to work weekends and holidays, if required.
• Performs job responsibilities and operate equipment according to the company safety and training programs.
• Knowledge of safe and efficient operation of small equipment.
• Working knowledge of operating hand and power tools and equipment.
• Ability to follow oral and written instructions.
• Ability to lift at least 50 pounds on a regular basis.
• Ability to work outdoors for long periods of time, sometimes in inclement weather.
• Valid driver license
• Valid NC Pesticide applicator’s license or the ability to obtain one within 60 days of employment.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT REQUIREMENTS

• Prolonged periods walking, standing, bending, stretching, pushing, pulling, climbing ladders, or kneeling.
• Must be physically able to operate power equipment.
• Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds at a time.
• Must be able to work in a variety of weather conditions.
