Position Summary

As the Medical Equipment Representative, you will support the Defense Health Agency-Facilities Enterprise (DHA-FE) IO&T (Initial Outfitting and Transition) mission at an on-site location in San Antonio, TX . You will serve as a subject-matter expert in medical equipment planning, procurement, installation, and property management, ensuring efficient outfitting processes for military medical facilities. This role involves close collaboration with DHA-FE staff, government personnel, vendors, and project managers to ensure all furniture, fixtures, and equipment are properly integrated into facility design and construction processes.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Provide functional expertise, counsel, and advice on medical equipment initial outfitting process efficiencies, procedures, and programmatic issues.
Research and extract data using Business Objects reports; perform management analysis of information in the DMLSS database.
Assist in the creation and interpretation of criteria, standards, tools, and templates in support of military medical facilities.
Evaluate requirements, develop project documentation, and ensure proper equipment planning, procurement, and installation.
Coordinate with project managers, equipment custodians, and Clinical Engineering to develop and maintain high-dollar equipment procurement budgets.
Attend on-site Initial Outfitting user reviews and project meetings to determine equipment reuse or procurement needs.
Prepare, review, and modify comprehensive room content listings, design layouts, and project specifications.
Ensure compliance with DOD Criteria, including UFCs, MIL-STD 1691, and DHA LAN / WLAN requirements.
Provide guidance during development of FFE (furniture, fixtures, equipment) contractual specifications for various design-build and design-bid-build projects.
Track project progress, assess contractor performance, and support transition, relocation, installation, and commissioning of medical equipment.
Collaborate with a wide range of stakeholders (e.g., architects, engineers, general contractors) to maintain alignment on project objectives.

Required Skills

Analytical & Technical Skills : Ability to integrate information from various sources, ensuring proper system interfaces and data collection for analysis.

Communication : Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Software Proficiency : Microsoft Office Suite (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Project), MHS Space and Equipment Planning System (SEPs), and cost estimating software.

DHA-FE Criteria Knowledge : Familiarity with applicable UFCs, MIL-STD 1691, and DHA LAN / WLAN Upgrade Technical Requirements & Guidance.

Qualifications and Experience

Educational / Experience Path #1 : 4-year degree 7 years of experience in medical equipment planning and implementation.

Educational / Experience Path #2 : 2-year degree 12 years of experience in medical equipment planning and implementation.

Healthcare Operations Knowledge : Solid understanding of healthcare operations and related medical equipment / systems.

DoD Criteria Proficiency : Demonstrated experience in preparing medical equipment design layouts, budgetary / procurement documentation, and executing procurement / delivery / installation.

High preference for candidates with an active CAC (Common Access Card)

Working Environment

Approximately 25% travel required to various CONUS and OCONUS locations for project site visits and on-site support.

Physical Demands

Sitting / Standing : This role is generally sedentary, with the majority of time spent sitting while using technological office equipment, including a laptop, mouse, keyboard, computer monitors, telephones, scanners, and copiers. Occasional standing may be required for meetings or office-related tasks.

Walking : This role requires the ability to move around the office to access necessary equipment, such as printers, copiers, and file storage areas.

Stooping / Kneeling / Crouching / Crawling : This role may require occasional stooping, kneeling, or crouching to reload printer trays with paper, move equipment, or manage cords and cables.

Using Hands / Fingers : This role involves constant use of hands and fingers for operating office equipment, such as laptops, mice, keyboards, computer monitors, telephones, scanners, and copiers.

Talking / Hearing : Frequent communication with colleagues, stakeholders, and external parties is required. This includes exchanging information, reviewing details, and making decisions based on verbal discussions.

Seeing : The role requires the ability to see and distinguish all aspects of written documentation, digital information, and project specifications. Visual acuity is necessary for reviewing internal and external reports, plans, and data.

Carrying / Lifting : This role requires the ability to lift up to 25 lbs to transport office equipment, documents, and other items between workspaces and meetings.
