Position Summary: Based in Canton, Michigan, the Maintenance Technician will perform essential job functions in the maintenance and repair of equipment, facilities, and vehicles under the direction of the General Manager Follows priorities set by supervisor and performs work in accordance to companywide guidelines and manufacturer’s specifications. Works to minimize unplanned downtime, improve production quality, increase equipment efficiency, and maintain a clean, safe work environment.
Essential Job Functions (Duties and Responsibilities): The primary duties consist of, but are not limited to the following.
- Implement the facility’s preventative maintenance program.
- Conduct scheduled inspections of fluid levels, and water flows, quench oils, filters, washer soap, and similar items; notify supervisor of issues as needed.
- Maintain a clean and organized environment in the Maintenance Department work area; promptly clean up after maintenance and repair work is completed within the facility.
- Assist in equipment performance testing per companywide and manufacturer’s guidelines.
- Perform corrective actions required for out-of-specification conditions as directed by the supervisor.
- Assist in analytical troubleshooting of issues to maintain equipment, facilities, and vehicles.
- Accurately record and document all completed maintenance, modifications, and repairs.
- Maintain shop copies of manuals and blueprints in a neat and organized manner; provide others with updated information as required.
- Run company errands and pick up equipment, materials, and supplies as required.
- Operate company vehicles safely and courteously.
- Promptly report observed equipment, facility, and vehicle repair or maintenance needs to the supervisor.
- Make suggestions for changes that would help the facility achieve improved efficiency, quality, and safety.
- Assist in maintaining the inventory of maintenance supplies, tools, and replacement parts.
- This position is responsible for the care and treatment of our customer’s inventory and as such will perform duties safely and responsibly to prevent customer loss or damage.

- Education – College or technical degree in mechanical, electrical, or industrial maintenance preferred; High school diploma or equivalent plus 3-5 years of industrial maintenance experience required.
- Must possess troubleshooting skills with mechanical equipment and be analytical.
- Knowledge and hands-on experience of computer applications including Microsoft Office and databases is required.
- Ability to function as an effective team member through good communication and cooperation to meet plant goals.
- Strong organizational and interpersonal skills; must have excellent multi-tasking skills and ability to prioritize workflow.
- Actively participate in team meetings to work on problem-solving and continuous improvement of the organization.
- Must demonstrate the ability to read, write, and communicate in the English language.

- Must be able to work in an industrial environment at elevated heights and in confined spaces.
- Manual dexterity to perform data entry functions.
- Ability to bend, pull, stoop, stand, walk, kneel, crouch, crawl, climb, and reach to perform functions.
- Ability to lift/push/pull up to 50 lbs.
- May be exposed to heat, fumes, noise, humidity, etc.
- Must have the cognitive and mental capacity to perform essential job functions.
- Must be able to communicate effectively orally and in writing.
- Visual acuity to read documents, computer screens, files, etc.
- Ability to hear in person and via phone.
