Position Summary:
Based in Fairfield, OH the Shipping/Receiving Supervisor acts as company authority on all aspects of shipping and receiving, under the direction of the General Manager. Directs and instructs the activities of the truck drivers and other shipping and receiving employees to meet the needs of customers.
- Trains, directs, and is responsible for shipping & receiving employees including drivers.
- Must see that service maintenance is performed at proper/required intervals on all trucks and that all DOT regulations, reports, and requirements are met.
- Works closely with Production Manager and production employees to ensure a high level of customer satisfaction.
- Responsible for proper and timely paperwork flow in and out of the department.
- Must promote and practice safe housekeeping and work habits in the department and safe driving standards as set by State Law.
- Promotes and practices safety and good housekeeping.
- Must work in a manner consistent with the EMS.
- Performs other tasks as designated by position.
- Willingness and ability to cross-train in other departments including furnace operations.
- Must have the ability to report for work on time, follow directions, interact effectively with co-workers, understand and follow rules and procedures, and accept constructive criticism.
- May have access to compensation information of other employees or applicants in this role and as such cannot disclose the pay of other employees or applicants to other individuals.
- This position is responsible for the care and treatment of our customer’s inventory and as such will perform duties safely and responsibly to prevent customer loss or damage.
- This position must satisfy ITAR compliance requirements, therefore candidates must be U.S. Citizens or Permanent Resident Card Holders.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Must have 3 years of shipping/receiving and some supervisory experience, including proven leadership qualities.
- Must have the ability to supervise, direct, and motivate employees.
- Must have an unrestricted Class B (prefer Class A) driver’s license and provide a DMV printout showing a good driving record for at least three (3) years. Must maintain this status.
- Must have basic knowledge of truck mechanics and have good knowledge of the geographic area to be served.
- Must know basic math; be able to perform simple calculations, figure rates, and insurance costs for various means of shipping. Must have basic knowledge of micrometers, verniers, and tape measures.
- Must know the truck capacity and how to load a balanced shipment, as well as a working knowledge of proper packing, crates, boxes, skids, and banding for all types of shipments.
- Must be sales-oriented and sensitive to the requirements and requests of customers.
- Must be able to perform all operations/duties within the shipping/receiving department.
- Must possess the ability to listen, be objective, patient, observant, and responsible to the needs of associates in his department and others.
- Must be totally trustworthy set a good example to subordinates and maintain a positive company image.
- May be required to work overtime or any shift, including weekends.
- Must be able to obtain and maintain forklift operator certification.
- Must demonstrate the ability to read, write, and communicate in the English language.
- Knowledge and hands-on experience of computer applications including Microsoft Office and databases is required.
- Must be able to work in a standing position for extended periods in an office/industrial environment.
- Manual dexterity to perform data entry functions.
- Ability to bend, pull, stoop, and reach to perform functions.
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
- May be exposed to heat, fumes, noise, humidity, etc.
- Must have the cognitive and mental capacity to perform essential job functions.
- Must be able to communicate effectively orally and in writing.
- Visual acuity to read documents, computer screens, files, etc.
- Ability to hear in person and via phone.
