Summary: The Vice President, Surface Technology, North America manages the division with full P&L responsibility, ensuring performance to budget within the NA region under the direction of the Global ADE & ST President. Based in Hebron, KY, the Vice President, Surface Technology, North America is responsible for providing strategic and tactical leadership to all aspects of business. They will have to focus on top-line growth, contribute to strategic business planning, help formulate capital expenditure needs, implement lean processes into all aspects of the operations, and maintain best practices.
The Vice President, Surface Technology, North America acts as a senior leader on the ADE/ST management team and closely partners with technical services, commercial leadership, finance and peers leading other regions. They directly manage a team of general managers, regional quality and EHS leaders, and sales/commercial teams within Surface Technology with an extended team of a dedicated regional controller and technical support personnel.

Essential Job Functions (Duties and Responsibilities): The primary duties consist of, but are not limited to, the following:
- Define, develop, and implement strategic sales and operations plans and ensure achievement of Company growth and profitability goals.
- Actively drove a 5S and safety culture focused on operations leadership and employee involvement, resulting in world-class safety performance.
- Define and execute the NA Surface Technology strategy consistent with the division and Company’s global vision.
- Implement strategies to maximize asset utilization, material efficiency, and workforce productivity.
- Drive common metrics to visibly measure performance throughout the organization and drive actions to increase operations effectiveness.
- Collaborate with the global ADE/ST leadership team to refine and implement the strategic plan while ensuring that the budget, staff, and priorities are in alignment.
- Oversee the financial status of the region, including developing long- and short-range financial plans, monitoring the budget, and ensuring sound financial controls are in place; set financial priorities accurately to ensure the organization is operating in a manner that supports the needs of the investments and staff.
- Recommends sales strategies for improvement based on market research and competitor analysis.
- Lead with a strong top-line mentality coupled with an emphasis on teamwork and communication at all levels; work with the leadership team to drive revenue growth, reduce costs, and deliver product in a timely manner.
- Proactively partner with the sales team to support top line development; coordinate with commercial leadership on direct customer involvement.
- Create and implement forward-thinking improvements in customer satisfaction by providing on-time delivery, shorter lead times, and quality services; communicate best practices between sales, engineering, and operations to improve response times.
- Maintain and develop a customer-focused mentality throughout the organization, interacting with customers and creating a culture that is focused on exceeding customer expectations.
- Develop and implement preventive maintenance plans and CapEx plans in order to maintain the serviceability and competitiveness of equipment, drive technological innovation, and anticipate future capacity needs.
- Define and implement sourcing cost reduction strategy for raw materials, equipment,t and outsourced third-party services.
- Provide leadership and direction to all regional management and ensure the continued development and management of a professional and efficient organization.
- Establish effective decision-making processes that will enable the Company to achieve its long- and short-term goals and objectives.
- Facilitate cross-departmental collaboration and strengthen internal communications with staff throughout the region; create and promote a positive, multicultural work environment that supports consistency throughout the organization's strategy and operational methods.
- Recommends sales strategies for improvement based on market research and competitor analyses.
- Must be willing to travel overnight up to 50% based on business needs and regularly spend time across the NA Surface Technology sites.
- Bachelor’s Degree required.
- Minimum of 7 to 10 years of senior leadership experience overseeing operations and support functions in an industrial environment required.
- Strong experience in metallurgical industries, including castings, forgings, powder metallurgy, additive manufacturing, machining, heat treatment, surface treatment, or related strongly preferred.
- Strong experience cultivating an environment where safety is a priority.
- Experience leading change successfully.
- Strong experience driving productivity with a constant focus on continuous improvement.
- Experience managing senior level leaders and driving/developing a highly efficient team.
- Knowledge and hands-on experience of computer applications, including Microsoft Suites such as Project, Office, Excel, and PowerPoint, and Salesforce.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Must be a self-directed individual capable of multi-purpose activities.
- Must be able to work in a sitting position for extended periods of time (at desk, while driving, and/or on airplane travel) in an office/industrial environment.
- Manual dexterity to perform data entry functions.
- Ability to bend, pull, stoop, and reach to perform functions.
- Ability to lift 25-30 lbs.
- May be exposed to heat, fumes, noise, humidity, etc.
- Must have the cognitive and mental capacity to perform essential job functions.
