Quality Control Inspector Supervisor

To supervise and manage the inspection staff.  Monitor the daily inspection workload and activities of the inspectors.  Provide KPIs on inspection performance.  This position oversees the entire quality conformity process from development through series production. This role will lead an inspection conformity team that supports certification conformities / tests, series production in receiving, in process, final inspection, first article, shipping conformity activities, and aftermarket support. The Quality Control Inspection Supervisor will be familiar with the requirements of 14 CFR Part 21 Certification Procedures for Products and Articles.  Schedule source inspections and be the focal to interact with source. Interpret engineering data such as drawings and specifications and inspect in accordance with the data.  Must be able to use standard measuring equipment such as calipers, micrometers, height gages, dial indicators etc.  Must be able to understand visual and cosmetic standards.  Must have the ability to clearly write nonconformance reports and assist in corrective actions investigations.

• Manage, mentor and develop certification, series production and aftermarket inspection staff (Daily activities, reviews, timecards, vacations, overtime)
• Maintain a conformity inspection staff to support development, 8130-9 and 8130-3 forms
• Maintain an inspection staff to support series production in receiving, in process, final inspection, first article, and shipping conformity activities
• Maintain an inspection staff to support the aftermarket
• Provide KPIs on customer nonconformance and inspection performance
• Schedule source inspection and be the focal for source
• Prepare and schedule certifications and FAI packages
• Sign Certificates of Conformance and other inspection documents as necessary
• Serve as a MRB quality member
• Monitor the nonconformance data received from the customers and the field staff, analyze it and take appropriate corrective action within the company.
• Support and help develop inspection plans, standards, and cosmetic criteria
• Write nonconformance reports, analyze data, and perform root cause corrective actions
• Travel as required to support suppliers or source/auditing inspection program

Education: 

• High School Diploma desired
• Associate degree desired

Experience:

• At least 5 years of quality experience. Experience with 3D measuring equipment such as fixed or portable CMMs desired  

Certification: ASQ certification is a strong plus.

Skills and Knowledge:

• Be familiar with regulatory requirements of 14 CFR Part 21 Certification Procedures for Products and Articles.
• Knowledgeable on design data and tolerancing such as drawings, models, and Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing
• Understanding of the nonconformance process, as well as participating in the corrective action process
• Knowledgeable in using measuring equipment such as calipers, micrometers, height gages, indicators, CMMs and developing inspection staff with this equipment.

Other:

• May be asked to work extended or irregular hours as required.
• This position requires up to approximately 10% Domestic and International travel, including travel which is outside the local area and overnight.

ASQ Inspection certification desired. FAA DMIR, Boeing ODA IUM desired
