What are the responsibilities and job description for the BOH-Truck Driver (Dept. 90) position at BOH and BRM Construction?
Job Summary:
This position performs as a driver hauling heavy construction equipment and construction materials. It includes loading, securing and unloading equipment & materials, driving to construction sites, corporate yards and industrial plants.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Perform duties following company safety and quality protocols.
- Performs pre-trip and post-trip daily vehicle inspections and reports any issues immediately.
- Loads and unloads construction equipment.
- Assists with loading of construction materials.
- Secures loads properly and safely for transport.
- Completes transfer report with photos of secured load before travelling with load.
- Ensures complete understanding of route to be taken and discusses any issues with supervisor before proceeding.
- Drives safely and defensively.
- Understands and follows commercial vehicle driving regulations.
- Maintains telephone contact with Supervisor(s) to receive timely instructions following safety protocol for making and receiving calls.
- Maintains HOS, DVIR and IFTA records.
- Follows the company’s process for reporting any accidents, incidents or injuries immediately.
- Participates in company and jobsite-specific training programs successfully.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
- Class A CDL with a clean driving record.
- Possess and maintain DOT medical certification.
- Has at least 3 years of driving experience.
- Familiar with truck routes in the Greater New Orleans area.
- Ability to work in industrial plants including participation in DISA program, and pass criminal background checks, etc.
- Has good communication skills including verbal and written.
- Interacts professionally with the travelling public, company personnel and project owners.
Preferred Skills, Knowledge, Qualifications & Experience:
- HAZMAT endorsement.
- Tanker endorsement.
- 2 – 3 years’ experience in the construction or related industry.
- Can work overtime and weekends or holidays as needed.
- Has ability to travel as required, which may include out of town overnight stays.
Physical Demands / Work Environment:
Performing these job duties requires physical ability to climb steps and ladders and negotiate work areas under construction.
Employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
Specific vision abilities include close, distance, color and peripheral vision and depth perception.
