- Provides input to Supervisor on maintenance needs
- Looks for ways to improve efficiency and uptime and makes recommendations to Supervisor
- Keeps saw cab clean and neat
- Monitors machine to ensure panels are not being damaged by setting infeed throat plate and raise and lower skinner saw bed to correct panel thickness
- Grades panels per mill specifications
- Places correct grade stamps on panels
- Checks blow detector at every break to ensure it is operating correctly
- Checks panels for squareness, banana cut, width and length, and corrects measurements
- Ensures production reports are filled out correctly with downtime and panels processed
- Ensures blow pipes are keep free of debris
- Sweeps up saw dust and veneer scraps with a push broom
- Picks up scraps of veneer with shovel, rake, or by hand
- Paints various plant equipment and materials and barriers, framework, guards, etc.
- Follows Company policies, procedures and safety rules
