Position Summary: The Operations Manager for Precision Wine Co. is responsible for strategic oversight of all functional areas and brand operations as a key business partner, working closely with the President to maintain structured business growth. This individual will support the President by providing infrastructure for new and existing acquisitions, in addition to directing important policy and strategic decisions, managing implementation of operational policies and procedures, as well as career development & coaching of Precision staff. The Operations Manager will ensure inventory efficiency as well as oversee budgeting, reporting, planning, and auditing. This role will also involve sales activities support for key accounts, bringing their operational expertise and business acumen to support growth and engagement. Essential Functions
Team Management
- Manage all hiring and recruiting needs for the brand, including interviewing, making hiring decisions and building out strategic hiring plans.
- Manage productive working relationships with Order Team, Logistics, and Production staff, conducting performance reviews, providing coaching and career development, and managing department growth.
- Build and maintain method for monitoring staff competencies within job duties, including role development, progress, accuracies and efficiencies.
- Drive workplace cultural development and synergy, focusing on team building and cross departmental collaboration to ensure all staff work efficiently together.
- Manage Time & Attendance for all direct reports in Human Resources Information System.
Inventory Control
- Build and maintain inventory expectations in collaboration with the executive team.
- Coordinate and manage parts, consumer requirements and any inventory requests.
- Analyze and interpret variances in cost and how they affect profit margin, adjusting as needed.
- Manage part intake of all inventories, coding and adjusting allocations.
Financial Analysis/Reporting/Sales
- Maintain financials, sales performance, and other reports that support our ability to quickly and effectively manage all aspects of our business.
- Partner with President and for sales activities on key accounts to gain, retain, and grow.
- Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal reporting requirements.
- Partner with the Winemaking and Vineyard Management team to ensure accurate development of COGS that flow through all our systems for profitability reporting and analysis.
- Provide data-driven insights for business performance along with recommendations so we can continually grow and improve our sales, financials, and operations.
Production/Logistics & Scheduling
- Manage demand planning for all materials annually.
- Collaborate with the corporate team to determine optimal vendors and secure pricing with collective volumes.
- Schedule partnership bottling.
- Act as liaison between brand manager and company winemaking/production team for bottlings.
- Run weekly company bottling meetings
Safety
- Comply with all company safety policies, practices, and procedures.
- Participate in safety training and report all unsafe conditions or work practices.
- Participate in team efforts and perform additional duties as needed.
- Ability to drive in Napa and Sonoma Valleys with a current and valid driver's license and insurable driving record.
Necessary Skills:
Language: Ability to speak and understand basic English required for all positions.
Ability to read and interpret documents such as memos, instructions, policies and manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to present information effectively to groups of customers and/or employees, and participate in one-on-one and small group situations.
Math:
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide accurately, using standard American units of currency, weight, volume, and/or distance. Ability to recognize and correct inaccuracies when using calculator or computer spreadsheet. Ability to calculate items such as discounts, commissions, simple interest, and percentages.
Logic:
Ability to apply common sense understanding to multiple tasks, analyze and solve practical problems, prioritize and delegate tasks and projects, work both independently and as part of a team, and adapt to frequent changes in the work environment.
Computer:
Possess intermediate computer skills which can include e-mail, internet, word processing, spreadsheet, basic database activity, graphic arts and/or publishing.
Education, Experience, Certificates, Licenses:
- Bachelor’s Degree (B.A. or B.S.) from a 4-year college or university; or 12-24 months related experience or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Current, valid Driver’s License, insurable driving record, and proof of current automobile insurance required. Bachelor’s Degree (B.A. or B.S.)
- Five plus experience in operations, inventory, and logistics, management. (Wine or beverage industry is a plus)
- Experience managing cross-functionally and direct team management.
- Strong attention to detail, organization, the ability to follow through.
- Thorough knowledge of Microsoft office suite (including teams), include Excel, Outlook, and experience adapting to web-based software and technology.
Physical Requirements:
Light physical activity performing non-strenuous daily activities of an administrative nature. Manual dexterity sufficient to reach, handle items, and work with the fingers. May require lifting and moving objects up to 50 lbs. in weight. Clear vision, close and distant, and ability to adjust focus. Hearing adequate for telephone and office level conversation.
Work Environment:
Indoor and outdoor environment with variable lighting, temperature and/or ventilation. Areas may or may not be heated, air-conditioned, or shaded. Outdoor periods frequently required in changing weather conditions. Exposure to fumes and/or a variety of chemicals. Moderate to high noise levels typical of machinery, power tools, vehicles, and other equipment. (Note: PPE provided for all workers.)
Schedule and Travel Requirements:
- Variable schedule: primarily a set schedule but may require weekends, periodic evenings, and/or periodic or seasonal overtime.
- Position may include minimal overnight travel and/or travel by auto or air. Availability to travel domestically and internationally (rare).
