JOB SUMMARY:
Provides assistance to clients with obtaining community-based employment. Accomplishes skills and abilities assessments. Identifies available and appropriate community-based employment opportunities for clients. Acts as an ongoing liaison, both internally and externally with job sources. Maintains appropriate documentation and records as required or requested. Performs other tasks necessary to assist clients.
PRIMARY JOB FUNCTIONS:
- Identifies existing community-based employment opportunities and develops jobs within community-based companies.
- Determines skills requirements for available employment opportunities.
- Trains clients to perform job duties utilizing such techniques as behavioral programming.
- Maintains regular communication with employers to monitor job performance of client(s).
- Conducts regular meetings with client (s) as required or necessary, to ensure client is properly adjusting to job, if client is satisfied with the job and to determine what changes or adjustments, if any, could be made to better ensure both the clients and employer's level of satisfaction.
- Coordinates efforts to assist client with obtaining more desirable employment if the situation warrants.
- Provides transportation for clients as necessary.
- Maintains, as appropriate, communication with client's family, friends or designated significant others regarding progress and other matters.
- Maintains census data and records as required.
- Will comply with Compliance Plan and standards of conduct and report any noncompliance to the appropriate official.
- Will attend all required training and complete other duties, as assigned
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
Bachelor's degree required. Human Services or related major preferred. Education must be from an accredited school, college, or university.
Minimum of one year experience in human services, business, job placement, vocational counseling, or rehabilitation. Relevant internship or volunteer experience may be considered in meeting minimum experience requirements.
Knowledge of behavioral or other techniques and job development and related activities preferred.
SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
Good skills and demonstrated abilities in assessment, observation, communication - verbal and/or written, organizing work - own and others, interpersonal and public relations, basic math and language, record keeping, self management, teaching, coaching, training,, and such others that are usually and customarily considered necessary for satisfactory completion of essential duties.
PERFORMANCE STANDARDS:
Must comply with all work related rules and standards including, but not limited to attendance. Must not present a direct threat to the safety or health of self or others.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS AND WORK CONDITIONS:
May require both indoor and outdoor work depending on work site of clients. May be exposed to a variety of environmental conditions including, but not necessarily limited to fumes, dust, odors, mist, gases, variable temperature, uncomfortable heat/cold, vibrations, noise, etc., depending on work sites visited. Potential hazards may include mechanical, chemical, electrical, physical, etc., depending on work site.
Exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently and/or a negligible amount of force constantly to move or manipulate objects. Physical activities including, but not necessarily limited to standing, walking, reaching - above or below waist, fingering, grasping, feeling, talking, seeing, hearing, handling, sitting, etc. at varying frequency and intensity may be required to satisfactorily accomplish one or more of essential duties.
SAFETY EQUIPMENT AND WORK MATERIALS:
May include, but may not necessarily be limited to telephone, standard office equipment/materials, automobile; others will depend on type of jobs being performed at various client work sites.
May require use of vehicle seat belts; other equipment will depend on work site and may include, but may not necessarily be limited to protective gloves/goggles, ear plugs, etc. Special or unusual circumstances may require use of emergency safety equipment including, but not necessarily limited to fire extinguisher, first aid equipment/materials, etc.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:
Valid Florida driver's license, own transportation vehicle and insurance required.
Must pass a level II background check and drug screen.
