POSITION SUMMARY: This position is a full-time role responsible for preparing comprehensive project estimates for our municipal and commercial sitework projects and managing key components of the project, such as bid packages, subcontractor proposals, and job scheduling. In this role, you will have the opportunity to bid on complex site development projects, with a special focus on underground “wet” utilities and earthwork, while actively growing your career in an environment that encourages teamwork and progress. and effective project planning.

For this position, Bommarito Construction provides a competitive salary compensation, based on experience, health insurance, continued professional education, and the opportunity to participate in its 401k program, which includes an annual match schedule for vested employees. This position is also eligible for the corporate bonus plan, based on personal and company performance. This is an in-office position and work from home will not be available.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Project Evaluation & Analysis: Understand the scope of work, conduct site visits, and identify risks and challenges. Analyze project plans, specifications, and proposals. 
2. Quantity takeoff: Perform accurate takeoff for earthwork, excavation, trenching, and pipe installation. Calculate and/or analyze volumes for earthmoving, backfill, and grading activities. 
3. Cost Estimation: Prepare detailed cost estimates for all phases of earthwork and utility installation scopes of work. Utilize estimating software and databases to track and compile estimates based on historical data and current market trends and prices. 
4. Bid Preparation & Submission: Develop comprehensive and competitive bid proposals for municipal and commercial sitework projects, ensuring exclusions and clarifications are included as needed. Submit bids on time and manage follow-up communications with clients, contractors, subcontractors, and vendors.
5. Budgeting & Forecasting: Assist in developing project and/or company budgets and provide cost control measures throughout the project life cycle. 
6. Value Engineering: Identify opportunities for cost saving through value engineering without compromising quality or safety. 
7. Collaboration & Communication: Collaborate closely with project managers, engineers, and clients to ensure alignment on project objectives and cost expectations, attend pre-bid meetings, and present estimates to management, clients, and stakeholders in a clear and concise manner.
8. Continuous Improvement: Stay up to date with industry trends, pricing, and technological advancements in estimating software and methods to drive innovative solutions to complex challenges – always asking “What’s Next?” 

POSITION QUALIFICATIONS: 

• Proven experience, ideally 5 years, in municipal or commercial sitework estimating. Municipal: experience bidding underground utilities, pump stations, earthwork, flatwork, or structural concrete for city, county, and state-funded projects. Commercial: experience in underground utilities and/or earthwork for commercial site development projects. 
• Proficiency in estimating software (Bluebeam, HCSS HeavyBid, AutoCAD, etc.). 
• Consistent ability to plan, prioritize, and manage multiple bids and meet deadlines. 
• Detail-oriented with a focus on accuracy, completeness, and quality. 
• Strong leadership and communication skills, with the ability to build positive, professional relationships across all levels of the organization. 
• A bachelor’s degree in engineering or construction management is a plus, but not required.
