Location: Bomnin Chevrolet Cadillac GMC Buick Nanuet
Reports To: General Sales Manager (GSM) and Dealer Operator

Job Summary:

The Handyman is responsible for performing a variety of maintenance, repair, and facility improvement tasks to ensure the dealership’s buildings, grounds, and equipment remain in optimal condition. This role requires general knowledge of plumbing, electrical, painting, and general facility upkeep. The Handyman works closely with management, staff, and vendors to address facility needs promptly and efficiently.

Duties & Responsibilities:

General Facility Maintenance & Repairs

• Perform routine maintenance and minor repairs on the dealership’s buildings, including plumbing, electrical, HVAC, and painting.
• Conduct preventative maintenance checks on facility systems to prevent larger issues.
• Identify and resolve minor mechanical, electrical, and structural issues throughout the dealership.
• Assist in maintaining parking lot and outdoor areas, including snow removal, pressure washing, and landscaping upkeep.
• Respond to urgent maintenance requests from management and staff.

Safety & Compliance

• Ensure compliance with OSHA regulations, fire safety standards, and local building codes.
• Perform regular safety inspections of the premises and report any hazards.
• Ensure that emergency lighting, exit signs, and security systems are functioning properly.
• Maintain a clean and hazard-free work environment.

Vendor Coordination & Equipment Management

• Work with third-party vendors and contractors when specialized repairs or maintenance are required.
• Monitor maintenance supply inventory and notify management when restocking is needed.
• Oversee the organization and storage of tools and maintenance equipment.

General Support & Miscellaneous Tasks

• Assist with setup and breakdown of dealership events and promotions.
• Move or assemble fixtures and equipment as needed.
• Perform general handyman tasks to improve the appearance and functionality of the facility.
• Complete additional assignments as directed by the GSM and Dealer Operator.

Qualifications & Requirements:

• Minimum 2-3 years of experience in general maintenance, handyman services, or a related field.
• Basic knowledge of plumbing, electrical, HVAC, and painting.
• Strong problem-solving skills and ability to troubleshoot facility issues independently.
• Ability to safely operate hand tools, power tools, and maintenance equipment.
• Must be organized, detail-oriented, and able to prioritize multiple tasks efficiently.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team.
• Must have a valid driver’s license and clean driving record.

Physical Demands:

• Frequent standing, walking, bending, lifting, and climbing ladders.
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and work in varying indoor/outdoor conditions.
• Exposure to dust, chemicals, and noise from maintenance equipment.

Work Environment:

• Dealership facility, service areas, and outdoor spaces.
• Interaction with employees, vendors, and management.
• Fast-paced, hands-on environment requiring flexibility and adaptability.

FLSA Classification:

• Non-Exempt (Eligible for overtime pay based on hours worked in accordance with federal and state labor laws).

Pay: $20.00 - $25.00 per hour
