Description
The Facility Manager will oversee the daily custodial and maintenance operations of our dental laboratory. A primary focus of this role is ensuring the cleanliness of the facility and maintenance of equipment to maintain a clean, safe and professional environment. The ideal candidate will be proactive and detail-oriented. They will manage a team, coordinate repairs, and ensure compliance with industry regulations. This role requires strong leadership skills, excellent organizational abilities, and a commitment to upholding the highest standards of cleanliness and facility management.
Essential Job Functions:
Facility Cleanliness:
- Manage a team of custodial staff to ensure the thorough cleaning and sanitization of all areas within the dental lab, including workstations, communal areas, and equipment.
- Develop, assign and manage custodial cleaning schedules to maintain consistent hygiene standards throughout the facility.
- Conduct regular inspections of the custodial team’s work and identify and address any issues.
Preventative Maintenance:
- Oversee the organization, coordination and execution of routine Preventative Maintenance of all lab equipment.
- Ensure prompt responses to equipment needs as needed to limit downtime and disruptions to production.
- Maintain detailed records of equipment service and repair history.
Leadership:
- Manage and mentor a team of maintenance and custodial staff, fostering a collaborative and high-performing work environment.
- Conduct regular team meetings to provide feedback, address concerns, and align on goals.
- Oversee recruitment, onboarding, and training of custodial and maintenance employees.
- Build and foster relationships with leaders of all departments and check in to identify and address custodial and maintenance needs.
- Act as the primary point of contact for maintenance and custodial needs for internal and external stakeholders.
Operational Management:
- Conduct regular inspections of the interior and exterior of the facility to identify custodial and maintenance needs and address them promptly.
- Manage relationships with contractors and service providers to schedule and coordinate routine inspections, preventive maintenance, upgrades and emergency repairs.
- Coordinate with vendors and suppliers to ensure timely delivery of materials and supplies.
- Manage the maintenance help desk system to schedule routine custodial and preventative maintenance tasks for all labs and address facility and equipment-related issues efficiently.
- Assign and prioritize help desk tickets, ensuring prompt resolution of maintenance requests.
- Track and report on help desk activity, identifying trends and opportunities for improvement.
- Oversee the proper storage and organization of materials and supplies to maintain a clutter-free and efficient workspace.
- Identify opportunities for improving maintenance processes, workflows, and overall efficiency.
- Implement best practices to enhance productivity and quality.
Compliance and Safety:
- Ensure the facility meets all OSHA and other regulatory compliance standards.
- Implement and enforce safety protocols to maintain a safe work environment.
- Monitor and manage waste disposal processes, adhering to environmental and legal guidelines.
Requirements
Required Skills and Qualifications:
Skills & Competencies:
- 3-5 years of experience in facility management, preferably in a dental or medical laboratory or in a manufacturing environment.
- Forklift certification is a plus.
- Proficiency in maintenance helpdesk software and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Meticulous about facility cleanliness and organization.
- Sense of urgency in responding to facility and equipment issues.
- Strong leadership, communication, and team management skills.
- Excellent problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
Working Conditions:
- Full-time position based in a dental laboratory environment.
- May require occasional lifting of heavy equipment or materials (up to 50 lbs).
- Some weekend or evening work may be necessary to address urgent facility needs or attend to projects.
- Full time – Exempt position. On call as needed.
Salary : $75,000 - $85,000
