What are the responsibilities and job description for the Fabrication Planner & Scheduler position at Bonnell Aluminum?
Reporting to the Shipping and Planning Manager, the Production Scheduler will learn all aspects of planning and scheduling tasks, including associated reporting. The Production Scheduler will support the culture of continuous improvement by driving toward world-class material workflow and inventory levels. This position is key in ensuring optimal utilization of all scheduled production hours. The Production Scheduler will have end-to-end involvement in sequencing the orders through the plant to the shipping team.
What You'll Be Responsible For :
- Track demonstrated production rates to maintain accurate capacity forecasting levels.
- Understand and communicate the necessary department daily work schedules.
- Create and update part routings as needed and communicate to Operations any unique Customer requirements.
- Communicate current plant lead times to the business.
- Actively partner with Customer Experience Specialist to understand customer priorities and advise options based on plant capacity / performance.
- Participate in the investigation and resolution of production reporting issues.
- Support shipping goals by pulling orders through the plant in the correct sequence.
- Support the Daily, Month-end, and Year-end reporting for Production WIP and Inventory.
- Participate in the development and implementation of standardized work instructions (SWIs) for planning and scheduling processes and tasks.
- Participate in testing and development of new ERP and MES systems.
- Tracking metal through the entire process from extrusion until it ships out the door.
- Releasing metal and scheduling 1st and 3rd shifts with up to 50 employees.
- Understand automotive process and how to schedule and look at upcoming orders and understand when you will be short for them and schedule accordingly.
- Need to be able to multitask and adapt to change as we are steadily making things more efficient and looking for ideas and ways to improve.
- Able to read and understand blueprints.
- Purchasing of materials to keep the flow of raw materials in the department.
- Cycle counting and keeping Kanban filled and watching the Kanban system.
- Will spend a lot of time on the floor tracking material flow and making sure that it flows properly and in a timely manner from one department to another.
- Other tasks and projects as assigned to support the success of the plant.
