Office staff is responsible for delivering a well-rounded patient experience. Fine tuned organizational skills are required for success in this role, in addition to collaboration with the doctor. The major responsibility of this position is the ability to be a detailed-oriented person, capable of multi-tasking while providing a pleasant, cheerful attitude towards our patients in our busy optometric practice and to drive profitable sales growth through the delivery of outstanding customer service.
Position Summary
- Assist doctors in providing patient care.
- Take patient medical/ocular histories and reason for visit (case history).
- Prepare patients for exams and procedures.
- Perform diagnostic procedures (tonometry, pachymetry, ancillary testing).
- Maintain accurate and detailed patient records.
- Clean and maintain ophthalmic equipment and instruments.
- Meet customer satisfaction goals; effectively resolve customer concerns.
- Provide compassionate patient care skills.
- Answer phones.
- Schedule patients.
- Verify all insurance benefits, medical and managed vision care, as applicable.
- Scan documents and paper records into patient’s charts.
- Data entry.
- Open and prepare exam rooms.
- Shut down exam rooms at end of day, including any pertinent cleaning of patient care areas.
- Send electronic correspondence to patients.
- Teach insertion and removal for new contact lens patients.
- Adjust and repair eyewear.
· Protect all Company assets, including inventory, cash, credit card drafts, bank deposits, and equipment.
· Follow proper procedures when accepting checks and credit cards.
- Goal and solution oriented and able to self-manage complex tasks.
- Flexible and composed in fast paced and ever-changing environment.
- Implementation and leadership of managed care coverage and medical insurance claims processing.
· Ensure adherence to all policies and procedures.

Preferred Qualifications
- 1 years of healthcare-related work experience preferred; however, we are open to training.
- Knowledge of optical industry: Lens, frame, insurance, and problem-solving principles is preferred.
- Hands-on experience with and Electronic Health Records and POS transactions
Education
- High School Graduate or equivalent required.
Compensation
· Full Time - starting hourly wage varies based on experience
