General Purpose
Perform a variety of entry level complex clerical tasks designed to expedite the receiving and allocation of general tax revenue, issuance of tax notices and recording of tax remittances as required by law of the office of County Treasurer.
Supervision Received
Work under the general supervision of the County Treasurer, Chief Deputy or Senior Deputy Treasurer.

Essential Functions
Collect tax payments over the counter and through mail and receipt the same; responds to public questions and provide information related to tax amounts, charges and fines, segregation of property, addresses of property owners, legal descriptions and questions concerning the tax laws defined by Idaho Code; contacts taxpayers by telephone and/or in writing concerning payment errors.
Perform general money management duties related to balancing cash drawers; reviews and reconciles all payments for accuracy and completeness and prepare deposits daily.
Perform warrant redemption functions; receive warrants from banks and issue Treasurer's check for total warrants claimed; post warrants to computer system.
Conduct records search as requested by banks and mortgage companies, including research on assessor's plats; provide and complete necessary documentation as requested.
Assist in conducting extensive research of all accounts having three years of delinquent taxes; notify all recorded and non‑recorded parties associated with the property; utilizes various processes and methods including search of microfilm, public recordings, microfiche, previous payment and ownership records, plats, city and county phone directories, returned mail etc.
Calculate taxes, collect and receipt pre‑payments on personal property and mobile homes; issue ad‑valorem receipts for verification of taxes paid; assist with collecting payments received from local improvement districts.
Calculate taxes on newly acquired or split properties for the purpose of proration; provide mortgage companies with necessary documentation of tax amount or escrow collections.
Access computer record of all tax collection transactions and assist with generating weekly reports.
Receipt money deposited to the Tax Anticipation Account and determine required payments.
Prepare warrants of distraint for delinquent collection of all personal property for issuance to the county sheriff for collection.
Issue refund checks for excess or incorrect payment with letters of explanation; follow established procedures in handling late payments or insufficient funds; search for prior year delinquency; apprise taxpayer of additional fees or fines, and balances owed; conduct follow‑up on refund letters as required.
Generate and prepare fund ledgers showing fund balances as required by auditors.
Prepare tax notices for mailing.
Ability to maintain regular, reliable patterns in work product and attendance according to Bonneville County's expectations.
Perform other job-related duties as assigned or required.
Minimum Qualifications
1. Educations and Experience:
A. Graduation from senior high school, or equivalent, with course background in bookkeeping, accounting, or some other related field; plus three to six weeks specialized training in terminal operation and data entry;
AND
B. One (1) year of general work experience preferably related bookkeeping, accounting, cashiering or some other related field;
OR
C. An equivalent combination of education and experience.
2. Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Some knowledge of basic practices and methods of bookkeeping and accounting; terminal operation and data entry; general office maintenance, (i.e., record keeping, filing, indexing, etc.); operation of microfilming equipment and procedures.
Ability to perform basic mathematical functions quickly and accurately; understand financial terminology; read and understand county legal documents; operate a variety of types of
office equipment such as personal computer, adding machine, calculator, typewriter, etc.; communicate effectively, verbally and in writing; write clearly and legibly, develop effective working relationships with supervisors, fellow employees, and the public.
3. Special Qualifications:
Proficient keyboard and 10-Key skills.
4. Work Environment:
Tasks require a variety of physical activities, not generally involving muscular exertion, such as walking, standing, stooping, sitting, reaching, talking, hearing and seeing. Mental application utilizes memory for details, emotional stability and critical thinking and creative problem solving.
