Shift Time Schedule: Monday 8a-5p, Wednesday 9a-8p, Sunday 9a-5:30p

Salary Scale: $52.69-76.23 Based on experience.

POSITION SUMMARY: Advanced Practice Providers promote and maintain health by providing medical services, under the supervision of a physician if required. They conduct complete physicals, provide treatment, counsel patients and prescribe medication. Care will be provided in a clinic or nursing home setting.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

Assess patient health by interviewing patients; performing physical examinations; obtaining, updating and studying medical histories.

Determines abnormal conditions by administering or ordering diagnostic tests, such as x-rays, electrocardiograms and laboratory studies. Interprets diagnostic test results for deviations from normal.

Make tentative diagnoses and decisions about management and treatment of patients.

Performs therapeutic procedures by administering injections and immunizations; suturing, managing wounds and infections.

Instructs and counsels patients about prescribed therapeutic regimens, normal growth and development, family planning, emotional problems of daily living, and health maintenance.

Supervises and coordinates activities of nursing and other support staff.

Supervises hyperbaric therapy in the wound clinic upon appropriate training courses. (Wound Clinic Only)

Protect patients and employees by adhering to infection control policies and procedures.

Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending education workshops; reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks; participating in professional societies.

Contribute to physician's effectiveness by identifying short-term and long-range patient care issues that must be addressed; recommending options and courses of action; implementing physician directives.

MINIMUM KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:

Qualifications: Graduation from an accredited Physician's Assistant Program or Nurse Practitioner Program.

Work experience: A minimum of one year experience is preferred. Five or more years working as an RN prior to getting PA or NP is preferred.

Education/Certifications/Licenses: Completion of an accredited PA or NP program is required. Must have an active PA or NP license in the state of Iowa.

BLS and Mandatory Certification Reporting

Desired Work Traits: Must be thorough and detail oriented. Must be a team player who can work with other clinic staff including physicians, office staff and nurses.

Communication Skills: Must have excellent communication skills in order to talk to patients and work with physicians.

EQUIPMENT/TOOLS:

Operate office equipment such as computers, printers, copy machine, calculator, or facsimile. Able to operate medical equipment needed to exam and treat patients.
